Britain's Foreign Secretary's arrival and departure flights into Gibraltar last week were not allowed to overfly Spanish territory and flew over Portugal instead. This was one of several hostility incidents of Spanish officials towards London. The overfly ban was confirmed to Gibraltar Broadcasting Corporation by the Convent (Governor's residence in the Rock). Ceuta ring any bells coño?

It is about time we started applying meaningful pressure on Spain. A small tax perhaps on commercial flights going to Spain.

And so spain continues to act in the same juvenile manner. It's unfortunate that Gibraltar doesn't respond in like manner. It's good to see that the Gibraltar branch of the Cervantes Institute has closed. It's a pity that Gibraltar didn't demand its removal as being a propaganda tool. I'm sure that matters could be improved by having all the spaniards currently employed in Gibraltar dismissed, so that they no longer trot back and forth across the frontier on a daily basis, likely indulging in tobacco smuggling at the same time. Why shouldn't the Gibraltar Government invest in a number of high speed catamaran ferries, or even aircraft, and bring in employees from Morocco. There is, of course, the danger of illegal migrants, but if specified ferry trips and flights were restricted to Moroccan citizens holding Gibraltar employment IDs? The Royal Gibraltar Police could enjoy themselves by identifying every spaniard crossing the border and then following them to ensure that all their activities were legal. Watchtowers and the Royal Gibraltar Regiment around the coastline.

@1. Why would you want to disadvantage British people? Levy the tax on all spaniards travelling to the UK. Collect the tax once the aircraft is airborne. Anyone who refuses to pay should simply have to remain aboard until the aircraft returned to spain.

Support as ever to our Gibraltar friends, and well done Hammond for visiting. A strong and positive message to the people of Gibraltar, and an equally clear one to the whingeing Spaniards.

It doesn't take much to trigger “hostility actions” from Espanya. They probably learned it from the Argentines.

And the government of Gibraltar want to remain in the EU because, apparently, they need Spain.

Bit like needing a hole in the head by the look of this little pantomime.

Quite why so many Brits need to holiday in Spain is beyond me unless they are broke and cannot afford to go somewhere better.

You would think that with a youth unemployment rate of 55% Spain would be grateful for any additional employment for its people and have far more important matters to expend its energy on ? Distraction again ?

Maybe Mr Hammond could fly to Catolonia to discuss Spains national unity and territorial integrity with some people who actually understand it and who actually want to be decolonised ; )

Sadly this is called puppet soft power,
and Hammond , Cameron and the rest are the puppets and the EU are pulling the strings,

as long as we stay in, we seem to have no power or the will to do anything,

perhaps if we pull out and leave a few navy ships , troops and the RAF will be sent with a very stern warning to Spain,

time will tell if we are indeed finished or about to get started.

    just my opinion.

    @8 McGregor
“Maybe Mr Hammond could fly to Catolonia to discuss Spains national unity ”

And talk to Morrocco with regard to Ceuta and Melila, and links with Gibraltar.

Spain can cut off Gibraltar from the European side but what about links with Africa?

The UK trades with Morocco as their produce are in our supermarkets.

If Spain is trying to make the UK uncomfortable, we should grow a pair and like you say side with Catalonia whose exit from Spain would decimate the Spanish economy.

Cameron and Hammond-wets, even though they have aces to play.

Agreed, we can and must do more,
the Americans are already asserting pressure on Spain over its accommodation of Russian vessels,

An American capt tell the RN stop that boat or we will ram it,
it has taken America to push whilst our government just smiles and sits there.
