Argentina's cabinet chief Marcos Pena said president Mauricio Macri administration was “100% in agreement” with the Catholic church 25 May Day message “to leave aside statistics, think in the Argentine people and not fight among ourselves”. Read full article

    The story above skilfully avoided mentioning that the Tedeum was celebrated in the middle of a security operation with large police presence and all accesses to Plaza de Mayo closed to the public. (Poor Macri had the willies about the possibility of public protests).
    Macri moved the main celebration to the Olivos residency and the plaza was deserted--in contrast with the party atmosphere of previous years.
    Oh...and the Buenos Aires Archbishop Mario Poli's homily is interpreted in Argentina as very unfavourable to the government, even if it feigned to agree with the Archbishop in an another show of its customary hypocrisy.
