The Falkland Islands Government said on Friday it will be working with the public and private sector to further investigate the impact of Brexit on the Islands. Read full article
Not a very good suggestion giving as it would The Dark Country pretensions that it had some 'right' to the islands which it has never had and will never have in the future.
@3 ChrisR
Possibly a waste of money but what about a referendum in the Falkland Islands asking the question, Do you want to become part of Argentina?
What's the betting that the .0 whatever of votes in the last FI referendum against remaining part of the UK were in fact for Independence, not to become Argentine?
The result would be a clear two fingers to Argentina, it would nor surprise me if the No vote was 100%.
I think there might be some changes ahead, I think our overseas territories should have a choice of whether they should be part of the UK. I think that would make things a lot simpler
Quite right too.I suspect that Brexit may actually enhance trading opportunities between both Islands and in fact trade outside the EU. In fact it may even be time to re-examine the old commonwealth trade routes that existed and were stopped when we entered the then EEC. I predict great opportunities for both the UK and FI

hopefully.
Perhaps Argentina could agree to let the Falkland Islanders have a referendum to 'secede from Argentina'?

Jun 26th, 2016 - 11:24 am - Link - Report abuse 0I can see your point but is it not the case that the argies always berate the islanders irrespective of the facts?
Giving them another opportunity to do so is not sensible.
