Tell me again why having these Olympics in Brazil is such a good idea?
I don't know, if only someone like the Victorians, hell even the Romans, could come along and invent basic sanitation. Had the Brazilians just been given a few months notice of the Olympics they could have sorted this.

There is a difference between a sewage/drainage system and effective sewage treatment. And a lack of decent sewage treatment is still very much a feature of a lot of Letrine America. I know of one splendid 5-star hotel in Chile that is directly adjacent to an outfall of raw sewage from a nearby village. And it wasn't that long ago that over 30 percent of the discharges into the Mapocho River in Santiago were untreated.
