The Brazilian Senate on Wednesday midday impeached suspended president Dilma Rousseff, and removed her from office for the rest of her term, ending a power struggle that has consumed the nation for months but has not solved any of its mounting problems, rather the contrary. Vice-president and interim president Michel Temer will formally replace the first woman president of the country. Read full article

Are you attributing this to their DNA, their political system and constitution, or the culture in which they raise their children?
Thanks for asking.

: The old crooks are likely to be replaced by the new crooks.
: The laws - the legal system [maybe even the constitution] may gradually change to add more protection to the corrupt.
: The corruption, money-laundering, etc. activities & unaccounted cash, offshore accounts, etc. already is [almost] legal, can be more difficult to prove and can also be made more sophisticated.
: All investigations wrt the malpractices of the politicians may soon disappear.
New boss, same as the old boss.

Sep 01st, 2016 - 03:31 pm - Link - Report abuse 0What just about everyone forgets, is that besides all the pre-election lies, Dilma depended heavily on the support of the PMDB to be re-elected, the only reason the PT accepted Temer as vice-President. So now, for the PT and it's followers to accuse Temer's take-over as illegitimate is, at least, incoherent. They conveniently ignore that the same 51% who voted for Dilma, also voted for Temer. And regarding the PT's continual whining that 51% of the voters have been betrayed, what about the 49% that voted against her ? they never wanted her in the first place. And today, most of the 51% who voted for her, are also pissed-off with her....Therefore, if the majority wanted her out, and have gotten their wish, then the will of the majority has prevailed. Just democracy.
Sep 02nd, 2016 - 03:34 am - Link - Report abuse 0As to welshyakusa's comments above (#7), he is right....Dilma had 6 years to prove herself and she f*cked up, so why the rush to condemn Temer before he even took over ? The answer is obvious....the inconformity of the losers.
Dilma made it sure that she get's re-elected first. Till then there was no news about the Economic Slide AND the Crisis. They appeared in the news - practically out of nowhere - promptly AFTER the re-election!
Sep 02nd, 2016 - 10:59 am - Link - Report abuse 0Dilma was twice elected to the office of president. By definition she is not an outsider. The outsiders in this situation are Temer and his administration and the close list elected members of congress.

Sep 03rd, 2016 - 06:09 pm - Link - Report abuse 0” By definition she is not an “outsider”.
The conclusions that you arrive at are absolutely ridiculous....first of all, who, or what defined her as an 'outsider' ? the media ? It wasn't Temer or any of his ministers....I suppose that stupid definition suited your political preference, so you lapped it up.
You choose to ignore that Temer was legitimately elected (as VP), in the same way that Dilma was (elected Prez), with the exact same number of votes. The impeachment process is foreseen in the Consitution and followed the latter down to the last word...well not really, as the separation of the final vote, completely unconstitutional, willl now have to be ruled on by the STF.
As the above article goes on to say........ ”she comes from a very rich family in Minas Gerais, where her father was one of Belo Horizonte's leading notaries--, and was above all she is a technocrat (economist by training), with little patience for discussions, debate and dialogue. Her political mentor Lula da Silva picked Dilma to overcome ambitions inside his PT party, and which could in the future not need his shield .
The fact that she came from a rich family , did not prevent her from joining the communist movement in Brazil...so she was no more than what we call esquerda caviar”, or those that live like capitalists and enjoy all the perks it offfers, however preach communism - for the 'others', of course. Just like the ex-leaders of the now-extinct USSR.
And the only reason that Lula chose her to be his successor, was because he needed to replace himself with someone he could control....the only problem was that she was rebellious and too uncontrollably stupid.
Despite the fact that she was trained as an economist, her impatience and her not-too-bright a personality , worked against her. To watch and listen to her talking is funnier than stand-up comedy. Can't wait for her next skit.
