Brazilian police want to question IOC president Bach on sale of Olympics tickets
Brazilian police say they want to speak to International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach about an alleged scheme to resell tickets during last month's Rio Olympics. The police pointed out that Mr. Bach is being treated as a witness, not a suspect.

Dragui leaves monetary policy unchanged; calls on Euro zone countries to unleash fiscal stimulus
The European Central Bank made no changes to its current monetary policy on Thursday, leaving interest rates unaltered and taking no decision on whether to further stimulate the Euro-zone economy. The ECB’s governing council left the main refinancing rate at zero percent and the deposit rate at -0.4%, as expected.

Mercosur insists in trade negotiations with EU despite Brazil and Venezuela situations
Negotiations for a trade and cooperation agreement between Mercosur and the European Union must continue and should not be overshadowed by political issues such as the impeachment process in Brazil, pointed out Paraguay's foreign minister Eladio Loizaga, following a motion by 15 Green Euro and United Left parliamentarians in Strasbourg to cancel discussions because of the “corruption contaminated” removal of Dilma Rousseff.

Micheline Calmy-Rey said the two countries shared a common purpose out - or planning to be out - of the European Union. But both still want a good trade relationship with the union.

Argentina promises 'respectful' cooperation over Falkland Islands
The Guardian's diplomatic editor Patrick Wintour caught up with Argentine foreign minister Susana Malcorra in London and interviewed her on UK-Argentina relations and the Falklands/Malvinas dispute. Ms Malcorra said Argentina wants to end the era of confrontation over the South Atlantic islands.
