Argentina is the only one that considers that there is a dispute. The UK is happy with the Status Quo and having said that Status Quo were an exceedingly good band

Foreign minister Susana Malcorra said last week in London that President Macri's administration was intent in ending an era of confrontation and was hopeful of a long term solution to the Falklands' dispute.

Time for Argentina to give up the mythical claim and move on. https://www.academia.edu/21721198/Falklands_1833_Usurpation_and_UN_Resolutions

If the Falklands are “to be addressed” then a member of the FIG should have been invited.

Did I miss something? Wasn't Macri supposed to be having serious discussions with Theresa May about you know what at the G20?

4-Roger: Only FI related issues likely are those that have been cleared by Falklands Assembly - eg the potential flight link from SaoPaolo and Montevideo
    - may be once a month stopping in BA instead of Monte to avoid possible pressure on whichever airline it will be, should it have any Arg flights normally of its own.
And maybe an easing on the charter flights ban from chile would be helpful.
Depends if Arg really means what it says- for once!

    @ 7 Think
You forget Think, that over here a Government is always answerable to Parliament for what it does.

And can be gone by that afternoon, if Parliament doesn’t like something it has done.

So yes he can believe that, with absolute confidence.

Some120 British executives from some 40 British companies accompained by an undisclosed number of British politicians and British civil servants attending a business and investment conference in Argentina....
    https://argentinaforum2016.com/#!
..... together with some 2,000 cutthroat competitors from other 30 Countries hoping to secure some juicy contracts will, of course, be adamant in securing them 2.5K Kelper squidllonaires a flight to a Brazilian town which name they can't spell nor pronounce....

Further to your Sao Paula correction, your spelling and grammar need correction.
It's English...not Engrish. Them islanders should be those islanders
“her Uruguayan employees” should be their.

    @11 Think
What does it matter if 120 British executives are interested in flights to the Falklands? Alan Duncan isn't there just for the conference but also to 'normalise relations', and apparently Argentina's new government *is* interested in flights and the supposedly non-existent hydrocarbons.

That has been established Argie politics since a loooong time, matey....

    By the way...
Could you tell me what young Mr. Duncan means when he says...:
“Our countries have a shared history and many deep links in culture and LANGUAGE.”

'That has been established Argie politics since a loooong time, matey....'

Really? The previous government seemed more fond of unilateral measures to me. Didn't they refuse to talk unless sovereignty was included?

'Could you tell me what young Mr. Duncan means when he says...:
“Our countries have a shared history and many deep links in culture and LANGUAGE.”'

I would guess he is talking not about Spanish or English but the Welsh language. I believe Argentina has the second largest Welsh-speaking community in the world after Britain.

Actually Think, the Foreign Minister is there for trade talks and a general conversation about improving relationships. It has already been made plain to Malcorra (despite her spin) that the UK's position on the Falklands remains unchanged - so no, there are not 'bilateral' talks about the Falklands.

It has also been made plain (despite Malcorra's spin) that flights would be from just about any country EXCEPT Argentina. Why? Remember that Islander veto that's been around since 1967?

Don't get me wrong - I wouldn't trust and FCO bod any further that I could spit (usually ends up on my feet, so I don't) so we'll be keeping an eye on him anyway.

Virginia Water? She was a comedian wasn't she ? :)

    (16) Mr. Roger Lorton
    1) The Foreign & Colonial Office titles its article as follows...:
“Foreign Office Minister Sir Alan Duncan arrives in Argentina for bilateral talks”
As you seem to have guessed, that can mean a lot of things in Colonialofficish...
You better watch them alright... Do you still have your truncheon...?

    2) Nope..., Victoria Water was the place where a very young Think first met face to face with true Engrish follyhaughtiness...
A whole Roman temple plundered somewhere... placed in the middle of nowhere Surrey....

    @17 Think
Come, come think, issues related to Argentina’s alleged dispute over the Falklands is going to be an item on the agenda in the “bi-lateral talks”.

But this is a far cry from saying that he is there, “for bi-lateral talks about the Malvinas”.

This is just opiate for the great unwashed, to give them hope that something is happening.

Remember the continental shelf fiasco, it’s all ours, Yea.

Err, no it’s not, actually, read the announcement on the UN web site.

But in Argentina many people will still believe that to this day.

Last time I was in Virginia Water (I actually lived there once) some of the Maids spoke Spanish.

Bilateral talks on trade Think - not the Falklands. We already know that Pinedo raised the issue and Duncan confirmed that the UK's position had not changed. Formalities (bullshit) over - they then got on with the real issues.

It is amusing that Think, for all his supposed and self confessed 'Intelligence', cannot seem to get his head around the language of British diplomacy. Your government can spin and manufacture press releases and statements to suit their own agenda as fodder for the masses., it doesn't change the facts though.

'The Falkland Islands issue is also expected to be addressed but with “a constructive spirit”
    &
'Foreign minister Susana Malcorra said last week in London that President Macri's administration was intent in ending an era of confrontation and was hopeful of a long term solution to the Falklands' dispute......

    Argentinian spin and wishful thinking?

Reality...'...insisted Britain's commitment to the rights of the Falkland Islanders are “clear and will not change”

'...improved relationships with Argentina will not be at the expense of its commitment to the rights of the Falkland Islanders. The UK is supporting the right of the islanders to establish air links to new countries in the region and to develop their oil and gas industry.

Good luck with those 'Bilateral Talks' on the Falklands issues, you may be disappointed.

You fell for that too Think, put the word Falklands/Malvinas in statement and you become so over excited, that you are blind to what is being said, the colonial land stealer rises up in you.

Where, in that link you posted, does it mention Bilateral Talks on the Falklands Dispute. Just like you government you made it up. Talking at someone is called a monologue, so in reality, Argentina will be having a Uni-lateral monologue with the Uk on the Islands and then they will have a bi-lateral discussion on '...areas of mutual interest - including in trade, culture, science and technology, climate change and combating drugs, crime and corruption.'
