Nov 18th, 2016 - 07:06 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Can anybody name one company who builds these sorts of products and has a reasonable record for quality?
NO military supply companies allowed.
BLU is trying to assemble overseas components in FLA.

318.9 million population and he says the U.S. did not have enough skilled workers for the manufacturing of iPhones.
Nov 18th, 2016 - 11:56 pm - Link - Report abuse -1Surely they can assemble them...after all both Foxconn and Pegatron are described as Assembler companies...
Probably not for 7 dollars a day though....

Nov 19th, 2016 - 12:36 am - Link - Report abuse -2Technically true. Since the number of iPhones currently made in the US is zero, it follows that the number of US workers skilled in assembling iPhones is also zero.
Perhaps they can have US workers open the boxes and add a piece of paper saying 'Made in USA', as is allegedly done in Argentina?
Also I wonder if Americans will change their mind about building that wall when iPhones suddenly become 45% cheaper in Mexico?

Nov 19th, 2016 - 12:58 am - Link - Report abuse -1Not so true...
did not have ENOUGH skilled workers suggests there are SOME skilled workers...
If the number of IPhones made in the US is zero...where did they come from...?..huh...huh...?
Good point about Mexico....I noticed on the many times I've passed over the border at Niagara Falls...it's always shoppers coming over from Canada to the US for the day...
Not the other way around...
I wonder if that will change and Yanks cross over to get imports cheaper and will they then have to pay customs tariffs...

Nov 19th, 2016 - 09:40 pm - Link - Report abuse -1Heh, true. I guess there must be some crossover in skills with other manufacturing? They could just train new workers but I'm sure that would add to the already high costs of moving. If they are forced to move the factory to the US I think they'll just automate as much as possible.
I'm guessing things are cheaper on the US side of Niagara now because of lower sales tax. But it won't be long before Americans start heading across the border if these tariffs happen. I expect lots of smuggling if they're as high as planned.
Here's a guy that had the right idea - only about 5 years to early.
Nov 21st, 2016 - 05:12 pm - Link - Report abuse 0If you are rooting for the US's demise ignore what follows.
A lowering of the corporate income tax is good for all Americans.
The current rate is a bar to domestic expansion of production and the repatriation of capital and its reduction could benefit all Americans.
Now if you're an overseas investor or a foreign government you might not be so happy with this but that's your issue to resolve.
Develop your own engine of entrepreneurship and innovation.
There has to be an equilibrium of benefit between foreign and domestic and that pendulum has swung wildly out of balance in favor of the globalists.
Reset your portfolio because it's coming.
The EASIER part:
Nov 23rd, 2016 - 03:52 pm - Link - Report abuse 0iPhones could soon be manufactured in the US
The DIFFICULT part:
Selling it at nearly DOUBLE the existing price!
