The British government has taken advantage of recent share price strength and sold 721m Lloyds Banking Group shares. The share sale reduces the government’s stake in the lender to just under 8%. In total, the taxpayer owns a cool 5.7bn shares in Lloyds.

Uruguay became the first member state of the Organization of American States (OAS) to deposit the instrument of ratification of the Inter-American Convention on the Protection of the Human Rights of Elderly Persons. Argentine foreign minister Susana Malcorra confirmed on Tuesday that next month there will be a meeting with representatives from the British government to advance in the agreement to start rolling the humanitarian mission headed by the International Committee of the Red Cross, ICRC, for the identification of former Argentine combatants buried at the Darwin cemetery in Falklands and which remain as unknown soldiers. The minister also said that Falklands will be part of the UK representation.
