Sparking protest from California citrus leaders, the U.S. Department of Agriculture has ruled that fresh lemons from Argentina will be allowed to be imported into the U.S. The rule is the result of ten years of study on pest risks associated with Argentina lemons, according to the USDA. A proposal to allow Argentina lemon imports was published in May this year and received more than 400 comments. Read full article

If these lemons are as bad as other citric products from Argentina which we have to endure here in the UK during the Spanish “close” season then not many will be sold in the US.

My Argentine next door neighbours arrived last night, nearly all the 'youngsters' (17-24 all lads) came as well. They are here until the end of January.

We both enjoy their visits and the conversations we have about the many things we have in common.

The 93 YO matriarch is coming for two weeks the end of February and she is a very interesting woman indeed. She always visits the local market because there are no 'good' fruit and vegetables in BsAs and she loves those of Uruguay. So she will think it really amusing to sell lemons to the US.

She had a university education and rose to be the Company Secretary of GM when she was just 30 YO in a male centric country if ever there was one.

Eat your heart out PL EB.

Just a point: people don't have to buy the lemons though!

    @ Voice

In Argentina's case the use of unapproved pesticides made them 'poisonous'.

Tinkerbell, most would be concerned with the sourness.

Bitterness - that's a trait reserved for multipersona rotten fruit such as yourself, TB.

    Haha...this is funny....Chronic thinks I'm Mr. Think....
    Whilst others are convinced...I'm Chronic...
I don't know if it's just me...but Chronic has made posts in the past that I have had difficulty even understanding and some posts that seriously cast doubts on his sanity...

I think you are the multi-persona..but with only one account....;-)))

    @ Impotent ChrisR

So that whole irrelevant story was just so you could try to take a swipe at me? Hahaha you pathetic old failure.

Since you have no idea what I do, how much money I have made or the level of luxury I live in, how can you possibly know if that woman is more successful than me? And why does it matter to you so much?

Personally, I am pleased for any women that does well in life, just as I am pleased for any man that does well. And doing well in not necessarily measured in wealth. I would suggest that any person who is content in old age has had a successful life. The bitter and twisted ones like you, Impotent ChrisR, are the failures.

On the other hand, this whole lemon “conspiracy” will make them more expensive for us. Say goodbye to sangrias and lemonade.
