The latest in a string of brutal prison massacres involving suspected gang members in Brazil has killed at least 30 inmates, most of whom were beheaded, officials said on Sunday. The bloodbath erupted Saturday night in the overcrowded Alcacuz prison in the northeastern state of Rio Grande do Norte. Similar violence at other jails in Brazil left around 100 inmates dead in early January. Read full article

    Briton:

    REF: “They need help”:

    Who are “they”?

    If you mean the criminals; they already have assistance, support, help, etc. from everywhere.

    - As long as ALL the crooks are not behind bars AND
    - As long as ALL of their loot is not returned for the benefit of the population; the so-called “investigations” and the “operations” are nothing but a Gigantic Farce! Don't U think so???

    @Mr Smiley Face
    Apparently the assistance, support, help, etc from everywhere, was not enough to keep the prisoners' heads on their shoulders, or stop them being disembowelled or dismembered. Help is pretty useless if it can't save you from a gruesome death, wouldn't you say?

    Anyway, I think Briton meant that Brazil as a whole needs help, which I can't help agreeing with. And I don't agree with what you said. Putting some of the crooks behind bars is better than none, and preventing more money being taken in future is more important than getting the loot back now.

    Whatever is happening; it's so because of the crooks, politics, police-force & the organizations [govt/non-govt] are hand-in-glove. Otherwise, mobile phones, arms, drones, booz, drugs, etc. would not have entered into the [supposed to be] heavily guarded prisons. They are now just shedding crock-tears to gather sympathizers.

    This current situation in the prison system is due several causes, but mainly to overcrowding, and is the result of the total lack of investment in the system, over the last 15 years.....and we have Lula and Dilma to thank for that...the heroes of the 'people'...didn't need a cystal ball to see it coming, anyone with a brain saw the writing on the wall in 2003....

    You are right! As you know, the Top-Priority of almost all of the politicians is to make their offshore accounts fatter; as quickly as possible! Don't U think so???

    That's the reason - as mentioned earlier:
    - As long as ALL the crooks are not behind bars AND
    - As long as ALL of their loot is not returned for the benefit of the population; the so-called “investigations” and the “operations” are nothing but a Gigantic Farce!

    Just to give ONE example: A lot of “drama” was created due to just one offshore account of E. Cunha. By now he must have died of laughter; because nobody mentions about his innumerable accounts, in many banks, and in many countries!

    Why else does he have MANY “Overseas Accounts Managers” in different countries?

    A vast majority of the Brazilians is not even bothered about such incidents and are not even THINKING about getting any kind of assistance to those involved.

    The Brazilians are worried about their own economic problems and concerned about the current Economic Crisis; where any kind of help - from anywhere - will be welcome!
