Britain has awarded £153 million (US$ 187 million) worth of contracts to equip the Falkland Islands with a new ground-based air-defense system known as Sky Sabre, the Ministry of Defense has confirmed, according to Defense News. Read full article

    It shouldn't be too long before the rabid Malvinistas start their tirade about militarisation of the South Atlantic again so let me head them off with the question “Why do we need to install and maintain all this military hardware in the Falklands in the first place?” That's right... because of a certain illegal invasion back in 1982.

    They need constant reminding the S. Atlantic/Antarctic belongs to us, and unlike the Inca or Mapuche we have more than just sticks and stones with which to defend our territory.

    Makes a change from them supplying the Argentines. Except, I doubt it would be good for future sales, to see more Israeli jets get splashed by the Brits, or more likely to end up as scrap due to no maintenance.
