Prime Minister Theresa May has claimed that Scotland will be leaving the European Union regardless of whether or not it votes for independence. Speaking during an exchange with the SNP's Angus Robertson, Theresa May also warned against constitutional game-playing. Read full article

Mar 16th, 2017 - 10:47 am - Link - Report abuse +1So tired of this now, it's clear the Sturgeon will just keep going on and on and on about this until she grinds everyone into submission. Go your own way Scotland and be happy, but please do not deny us poor long suffering English a nice border to keep you out and never have to see or hear from you again. Deal?
Mar 16th, 2017 - 11:00 am - Link - Report abuse -4Sturgeon's tactic is to make everyone sick and tired of her and her cronies until the government gives way. However this won't work on Mrs May. Nicola succeeds with the first part, but the second part is a complete failure. Brace yourselves for several years of whinging as insufferable as bagpipes...

Mar 16th, 2017 - 12:53 pm - Link - Report abuse +1The bigots are coming out of the woodwork again. As I keep saying, there has been an anti-Scots undercurrent in many English....(you are NOT British) ..for decades.
You have just confirmed that. For which, much thanks.
To you British and English mean the same thing and use the term interchangeably .
You make the typically arrogant English assumption that the whole of Scotland is behind Ms.Sturgeon.
As to a nice clean border it seems a good idea, after all, look at the neighbours we have to put up with !
No doubt Mrs. May and the chancellor will together manage to get the worse possible deal on leaving and declare it a triumph.
Typical Scot, you don't us to say you mustn't leave, yet you don't want to us to be happy to see you go either. The fact is that Scots have proven themselves to be unhappy no matter what and just want every damned thing on their terms. We've had enough of your endless moaning south of the border, you will get no fight from me, just go already and take the Krankies with you!
Mar 16th, 2017 - 01:05 pm - Link - Report abuse -4In spite of the differences; there is strength in unity.

Mar 16th, 2017 - 01:50 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Why the heck would he want you to be happy to see Scotland go, after already voting to stay in the UK once? You don't like hearing Scots moaning, do you think they feel any different when you (or the tabloids, or MPs...) do it?
There's been enough moaning from all parts of the UK this year to last a lifetime. (And I admit, I've been guilty too.)
@Clyde15
No doubt Mrs. May and the chancellor will together manage to get the worse possible deal on leaving and declare it a triumph.
That seems all too plausible. I was hoping Hammond would turn out better than Osbourne, but here we are with another unpopular tax announcement followed by a U-turn.

Mar 16th, 2017 - 01:51 pm - Link - Report abuse -1Which Scots have proven themselves to be unhappy the majority or the minority...?
Are you even British...I don't thinks so...
just go already ....my wife uses already in that context too...the way Yanks do, but she's a Yank...
Typical Englishman! I really don't care what you think ! The English want every damn thing on their terms. Look at your attitude towards the EU. You wanted it ALL your way and took the huff when you couldn't get it. Now you are up the creek without a paddle.
Mar 16th, 2017 - 01:56 pm - Link - Report abuse 0At least be consistent. It's OK for England to quit the EU taking Scotland with you, but if it is suggested that maybe we would be better staying in the EU we are suddenly beyond the pale.
Maybe we have had enough of English delusions of grandeur. It's time for you to grow up and look at yourselves.
I am adult enough to realise that the Royal we you are using does not refer to the whole population of England.
COBBLERS,
Mar 16th, 2017 - 02:08 pm - Link - Report abuse 0UNITED WE WILL STAND,
SO COME ON BRITS, CUT THE CRAP,
we will stay together and come out of the fracking corrupt EU,
so we should all get behind ,to get the best deal, [which we will get]
for frack sake have some confidence and be proud to be British, and stop falling for and following all the downtrodden fools who want us to fail, and tear us apart.

Another Scottish independence referendum should not be allowed to happen
We in Scotland are fed up of persecution by the SNP leader who is solely intent on getting independence at any cost. As a result, Scotland is suffering hugely.
https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/180642
According to petition figures, Edinburgh North and Leith constituency, represented in Westminster by SNP MP Deidre Brock, had the highest number of signatories with more than 2,741 people signing the petition.
Meanwhile around 2,348 signatures came from former SNP leader Alex Salmond’s Gordon seat, representing 2.28 per cent of constituents.
more are signing this , even from the SNP places.
That's my opinion,
back later.
Helmet hair doesn't suit Theresa, looks like that woman from CNBC.
Mar 16th, 2017 - 05:41 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I am not a fan of May NOR Sturgeon but in this case, May is right.
Mar 16th, 2017 - 05:46 pm - Link - Report abuse +1The last thing any of us want is a dog ..(bitch).. fight when we are trying to sort out the country's future......the UK.
After the deal is done, then the Scottish parliament can decide whether to ask for a referendum on independence. We would at least know what we were voting for.
What special concessions Sturgeon thinks she would get before Brexit, is pie in the sky.
No matter what the EU Council would propose or promise, it could be blocked by any of the member states.
We all know here that she is chancing her arm due to the political upheaval.
The United Kingdom.
Mar 16th, 2017 - 05:59 pm - Link - Report abuse -3Certainly the most inappropriate name for a country in the world as of today.
:)
How about the United States...?
Mar 16th, 2017 - 06:06 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Heh, it's a common rule of country names. The more words like 'Democratic' and 'Republic' are in the name, the more likely it is to be a dictatorship. And if United is in the name, it isn't.

Mar 16th, 2017 - 11:25 pm - Link - Report abuse 0you have a good point, we can only do one thing at a time,
Brexit first, see what happens, then give them the vote if they still want it,
but its interesting that the SNP states they do not know what they were voting for in the Brexit issue,
yet demands a vote on independence without knowing what they will be voting for ??????????
at the very least everybody should give Brexit a chance, see what happens,
then go for it,
anything else just suits the elites' and self indulging politicians who want power.
that's my opinion.
