The UK June 8 national election divergence in projections from pollsters is making the result hard to call and one of the key factors at the heart of the variation is whether younger and less well-off voters will turn out, and in what numbers. To achieve an upset, Labour are going to be hugely dependent on the trend that says younger and poorer voters, who appear to be rallying behind party leader James Corbyn, don’t actually vote come polling day. Jun 03rd, 2017 - 05:53 am - Link - Report abuse 0There is at least one British Overseas Territory (or colony as some describe it) in the South Atlantic whose continuing defence against the risk of foreign aggression depends on the skill and will of the elected government of the United Kingdom. I expect those English speaking colonists are quite interested to read about who might be their political masters this time next week. Will it be members of a party who on a famous occasion 35 years ago left a sign in the window saying Yours for the taking then sent in the bailiffs when the neighbours tried to? Or a party supported by young folk who don't give a damn about the history of the place? One way or the other if I were a colonist I'd be worried right now: the friends of Elsztain or the friends of Trotsky. Rock and a hard place or what!

However, if I need coverage of the UK 'elections' I know that I can employ the Internet to access UK media to find any amount of analysis. If what you say is true then it appears that this facility is available to those in your colony. If so the the question is, exactly what sort of hell hole are you British running down there?

Believe me, we can tell.
Do you think the media in Guam and American Samoa cover the US elections? I'm guessing the answer is yes, even though they have access to US and international media. Although they don't have a vote, the outcome still matters to them, so it gets reported.

But, unlike most sites, Mercopenguin claims specifically to cover America, South America and the South Atlantic. It does not claim to exist to cover UK news.
Jun 08th, 2017 - 02:21 am - Link - Report abuse 0Guam and American Samoa have a certain and, in my view, problematic relationship to the US. Mercopenguin claims to be based in Uruguay. Are you claiming that Uruguay has the same sort of relationship to the UK that Guam and American Samoa have with the US? Or are you claiming that America, South America and the South Atlantic have such a relationship to the UK?
