Venezuela's President Nicolas Maduro warned on Tuesday that he and supporters would take up arms if his socialist government was violently overthrown by opponents who have been on the streets protesting for three months. Read full article
The revolution has destroyed Venezuela -- it must be destroyed. If it takes war to do it, there will be war. People aren't going to tolerate the continuing tyranny and poverty, particularly those who remember what it was like before Chavez.
Hopefully war will not be necessary and that President Maduro and his merry gang of thugs will allow for democratic and free elections and bow down to the decision of the Venezuelans.
Appreciate that this may cause the President and many of his cohorts to land up in prison for various crimes, including but not limited to breach of human rights, corruption etc. but that's the way it has or at least should be. Only time will tell!!..........
Unless of course like Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner in Argentina, he manages to be elected a Senator in the Venezuelan congress, who is in a similar situation and who could also well be elected as Senator in the forthcoming elections and will thereafter have inmunity from prosecution unless Congress dictates otherwise....................or why does Dr. Carlos Menem hang on as Senator, despite not having attended more than a couple of sessions in the last few years and seen found to be held together in recent pictures, by toothpicks ?? Obviously in order not to even suffer detention at home, due to his age and health, despite all the crimes proven against him.
Hopefully this will not be the case with Mr. Maduro!!!
A rogue faction of the Venezuelan police attacked the country’s Supreme Court in Caracas on Tuesday, dropping grenades from a helicopter in a rare uprising by government personnel.
Article 350 of the Venezuelan Constitution encourages people to “disown any regime, legislation or authority that runs counter to democratic principles and guarantees, or that undermines human rights.”
If Maduro, now 54 years of age, doesn't change course very rapidly, he will not live to celebrate his 56th birthday.
Almost all Venezuelans have lost children or grandchildren to his insane regime, he is probably the most hated man in South America.
It is only the army keeping him in power because they are stealing and taking anything worth having. They are not going hungry like the rest of the population and are being paid handsomely.
The people of Venezuela are being violently oppressed by a regime and its military that does not respect its own democracy and civil rights.
It is a totalitarian narco regime hiding behind a greatly skewed Socialist ideology with a facade of 'social inclusion'.
They openly blame the US with their propaganda, for their situation.
Like you, whoever you really represent, they don't want their neighbors or the rest of the world to 'interfere' or intervene to rein them in or publish their criminality.
@Kanye
Do you think the US should intervene then? If they do it will appear Venezuela's propaganda was correct. Better to let the OAS or Mercosur countries deal with it as best they can.
@Kanye
Can't you tell what I think from my post? If you need it spelled out for you, then no, I do not think the US should intervene at the present time.
It's true the regime is already blaming America, but few people believe them right now. If the US invaded then this would change, and it would also significantly diminish the credibility of any resulting government in VEN.
Since the US and Canada are both members of the OAS they could push for a joint OAS intervention, or even bring it up at the UN.
However, with Trump in charge I think the US is most likely to continue doing nothing.
Strangely, and contrary to the Interior minister Néstor Reverol, the helicopter pilot is NOT on Interpol's wanted list. What's wrong with this picture?

Any conclusions?
The USA and Canada are both members of the OAS.
Do you really think Mercosur is going to do anything?
Argentina has no military to speak of, and Brazil is not interested.
The USA is being blamed already.
Earth farmer wants no intervention.
What do you think?
