“Catalan President Carles Puigdemont has said he is not planning a “traumatic” split with Spain”

“Catalan officials say voters overwhelmingly backed secession”

“Just under 90% of those who voted backed independence, they said.”

...but isn't a traumatic split exactly what 90% of those that voted want...?

“ Meanwhile, the European Commission described the crisis as 'an internal matter' for Spain....”

Just as what is happening in Venezuela is simply an “internal matter” for Venezuela....

Just when we thought that the ethical poverty of the EU could not sink any lower, the ghost of General Franco returns to remind us all that no one deserves to be subjected to Spain's fascist rule.

And like a dog with its tail between its legs, the UK's supposed defence secretary, Fallen, despite the UK having the guts to grant Scotland an independence referendum, kept citing the importance of the Spanish constitution, even though Lovejoy has been sending his ships to violate Gibraltarian waters.

Wonder what the Spanish constitution says of Gibraltar?

Despite the Catalans supporting Gibraltarian self determination.

    What's next, the white flag?

And I guess that fallen will grovel to Boeing (when at least Canada is set to cancel its order for Super Hornets), by continuing to buy kit like the rusty Rivet aircraft, even older than the R1 Nimrods they replaced.

    What a wet drip.

And as for the EU,spot on Marti, democracy is a dirty word for the E. U.

If Catalonia was independent, what's the bet that they'd give more in EU contributions than Spain?

    Gift horse-mouth.
