PM Rajoy- Gibraltar “this is the such territory in Europe and that affects to our own integrity territorial”, said Mr Rajoy, (Daily Telegraph, 26 September 2013). There are only two possible positions on the subject of Catalonia. Either one holds to the principles of democracy, freedom, governance by consent and self-determination. Or one “believes” in despotism, dictatorship and greed. If it's the first, one supports the Catalans. Spain is a prime example of despotism, dictatorship and greed. The same “principles” that Spain uses to “claim” Gibraltar, refuses to hand Ceuta, Melilla and various islets over to Morocco and steal Gibraltar's resources.

There should be a call for Spain, together with Turkey, to be ejected from the United Nations and NATO. Ordinary people can help by crossing Spain and Turkey off their lists of holiday destinations and retirement locations. In western Europe, Portugal, southern France and Italy are just as good.

Catalans have been seeking their freedom for at least 1500 years. People should read the history. And disregard the illogical assertion that Catalonia's vote for independence only involved 40% of the electorate. Catalonia is overrun by “foreigners” from Andalusia, the Basque country, Castile, Valencia, Galicia and so forth. All part of the Francoist attempt to cow and destroy Catalans.
