    Aren't they cute ? Hugging each other....in the good ole days before they were caught with their hands in the til.....from best buddies to enemies....looks like the rats are scrambling to get off the sinking ship, the “MV Lula”, but not before lighting the fuse.

    How cute.

    ”A plea deal would reduce (Palocci's) prison sentence, though it was not immediately clear by how much.”

    Hey, any thoughts about how heavily 12 years in prison may weigh on a man and prompt him to ditch anything in exchange for quicker freedom?

    I didn't think so. Who cares as long as the main goal--preventing Lula from running as president--is attained?

    @EM
    “....any thoughts about how heavily 12 years in prison may weigh on a man and prompt him to ditch anything in exchange for quicker freedom?”

    Three things, rather four : 1) Palocci is not innocent - and he has a lot of sh*t on Lula ; in fact he is also accused of being involved in Celso Daniel's death (in 2005 ?) because he was about to blow the lid on a 'public transport' corruption scheme in Santo Andre.

    2) I'd think that 12 years in jail, just to not squeal on the leader of the criminal organization (PT) must weigh like hell...

    3) I've said MORE than once that UNLESS the allegations made during the plea-bargains are backed by reasonable evidence, OR IF they lead to nothing, the plea-bargain agreement is cancelled.....so what is there to gain by lying ?

    4) what don't you don't understand about the FACT that the origin of the Lavajato investigation (officially launched March 2014) goes back to BEFORE Lula had even 'suggested' he might be a candidate in the 2018 elections, so much so that soon after Dilma was elected the 2nd time (end 2014) he declared he would never be a candidate for anything, ever again...so it is clear he only got cold feet and felt the need to be the PT candidate (in the 2018 elections) after the Lavajato started to catch up to him because of the “triprekis”, but especially after Dilma was kicked out (2016 ) and he realized he was vulnerable ; And why did his late wife feel obliged to go public and declare ”we (she and presumably Lula) have decided we don't want to keep the apartment“ (referring to the ”triprekis”) ?
    If it weren't an “illegal” gift from OAS (as it was intended to be) why the need to go public and say she didn't want it ? after fixing it up, exactly as she wanted ??
    But of course you can't see the obvious, even when it stares you in the face.

    Agree....but when he got Dilma elected for the 2nd time, he and the PT were confident they had consolidated their power, that no one would be able to remove them... and that he would be able to enjoy his ill gains without being 'inconvenienced' .....but there was the 'lavajato, and Dilma's impeachment, which somehow 'got in the way' of his plans.

    Quite True!

    But after +/- 15 years of tasting Power+Wealth; I hardly expect him to remain “inactive” for a long - LONG - time!
