Two men named as suspects in the poisoning of a Russian ex-spy in the UK have said they were merely tourists. The men, named as Alexander Petrov and Ruslan Boshirov, told the state-run RT channel they had travelled to Salisbury on the recommendation of friends. The UK believes the men are Russian military intelligence officers who tried to kill Russian ex-spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia in Salisbury last March. Read full article

I watched that interview...it was hilarious, do the Russians seriously think that anyone was convinced by that comedy sketch...?

They cannot leave Russia as an International Arrest Warrant has been issued. If they were genuine tourists then they have nothing to fear by standing trial.

To be fair, they'd still have to fear being stuck in a foreign country for months away from their families and whatever jobs they might have. But why are they supposedly afraid for their lives and afraid to go out?

The easiest way out for the Kremlin would be to arrange an 'accident', they should be afraid…

They probably should, but I very much doubt they'd give that as the reason on RT!

And why would it be silly to be carrying perfume? It's sold in duty free shops and could have been bought as a gift for one of the men's wife/girlfriend/mother.

Apparently, although it was dressed up as a perfume bottle it had been specially made with a long spout to ensure that the person using it wasnt splashed with the poison.

So two blokes take a 2.5 hour train journey from London to Salisbury, stay in the town for an hour and then take another 2.5 hour train journey back to London. Yes thats the sort of thing to blokes on holiday would do and the repeat it again the next day. I know Salisbury is not the most dynamic of cities but come on.

Not only that, but two Russians were put off by a little snow? Feeble.
