Time for the Organisation of American States to be accountable for their actions.

The OAS and the 1982 Falklands War

The first resolution on the conflict issued by the organization, on April 28, recognized Argentine sovereignty over the Falklands and deplored the sanctions adopted by the European Economic Community and other states against Argentina. A second OAS resolution condemned not only the United Kingdom but also the United States for supporting the European power. (Texts of OAS Resolutions on Falkland Islands, New York Times Archives 1982).

The OAS can't be taken seriously in respect of the Falklands. They ignore their own principles and support Argentine colonialism.

An interesting situation. Has the OAS been lied to or is it just wilfully ignorant? Many of us can remember the years spent in this forum disproving every argie assertion. Not to mention the many lies that argies tell. It is, of course, quite possible to see one aspect of realpolitik. The USA and Canada support the Falkland Islands and the UK. South american countries automatically take the opposite position. It's strange that south american countries are incapable of recognising that they are all, for the most part, implanted populations. The “offence” of which they accuse the Falkland Islands and the UK are offences that they have committed in spades. We know about argieland, but how many south american states spent years slaughtering indigenous people. Something that did not take place in respect of the Falkland Islands. Or the associated British territories.perhaps their “reasoning” goes that, if they can expel the Islanders, their own crimes willl become less obvious. It's quite a joke that they point at the “zone of peace” and use it to fuel more faux “outrage”. It's a fairly obvious subterfuge that fools no-one of intelligence. And, of course, there's always the money. No argie that's ever been encountered has ever wanted to actually live there. So the basic causation has to be the resources. We must hope that the Islanders find themselves in possession of truly enormous wealth. And then proceed to spend it with ostentation. New airports and a true “fleet” of civil aircraft. Private aircraft. Ocean-going luxury cruisers for all. And the Islands should not hold themseves back. Another “fleet” of hi-speed freight vessels. Capable of, say, 25 knots. Self defence will be important, so plenty of missiles. And missile-armed drones. Not that I can imagine British forces withdrawing. the Islands and surrounding areas are far too useful for combat training. Fun if south americans had cause to fear getting too close to the Territories.
