European Commission president Jean-Claude Juncker has issued a fresh warning to Theresa May that there must be agreement on the Irish border if she wants a Brexit deal. Read full article
No they dont! Their strategy has been the same all along, to make everything as difficult as possible leaving the UK staring at no deal. They hope this will force a second referendum. Its as clear as day.
Myself and most folk I know, have resigned ourselves to a no deal scenario...let's give Europe the middle finger pull out of talks, prepare now for that and get on with it...
Europe is weak it has always been weak they have no resolve, they will come begging for a deal eventually....
Keep Calm and Carry On...
In the end I believe the Europeans will turn on the EU and things will stutter on. There will possibly be a short dose of chaos and public opinion of ordinary people in Europe will force the EU into some sort of compromise. Everyone will be trying to avoid damaging their own interests.
Nothing much that individuals can do except use their voices
The ones I have met don't want the EU to compromise. Even though they don't think the EU is perfect, they believe we are the unreasonable ones. What do your friends in Europe think?
My German friends were taken aback and slightly insulted by our decision to leave what they regard as 'their Club. 'They didnt understand at first but after Mutti let in all the 'asylum seekers' many of whom have probably ended up here, their attitude has become much more understanding. AFD has made big gains in Bavaria.
I note that Unilever has decided that their HQ should stay in the UK so that they retain their FTSE 100 listing and thus retain their UK status as a must buy for UK pension funds. Whilst a few Banksters have got shipped off to wildernesses like Frankfurt and Paris to open branch offices to met EU regs these places are regarded like getting shipped off to Timbuktoo. Wandering round Canary Wharf after 7pm and seeing the packed bars and clubs you get a sense of why this is. London is THE centre of the financial universe and will remain so whatever Brexit we get.
It looks like we'll end up with a Common Market and as thats what we voted for originally thats fine by me as long as its not accompanied by all the other Eurononsense.
Well, it was only after the full effects of letting the migrants in - large numbers of migrants in small rural towns, touching up females, violence, racist rallies etc that they seemed to change their view. So its just personal observations. I have been visiting Germany fairly frequently for 35 years as to how things are changing. Last visit last October and many personal emails since tben.
In this mornings Times they mention 'a Common Market seems the likely outcome'. I am hoping they are on the right track. There does seem to be a lot of activity going on under the radar.

That makes sense, it's easy enough to be generous when you haven't seen the reality yet. It still wasn't true when they claimed Britain would be forced to accept them, though.
And damn, why does it have to be the Times? Everything is paywalled there. What did the article say exactly and whose opinion was that? The author's or someone they were quoting?
Oh, so they're really complaining it'll be Brexit in name only? Did you change your mind? I thought you were dead set against a customs union because it would mean continuing to follow the EU's rules, and would limit our ability to make our own trade deals.
I have no problems with a Common Market or with the EUs rules for trade with the EU, thats no different to exporting stuff to the US, you have to observe their standards. We can work something out with the EU that keeps everyone happy. As long as the accompanying Eurotwaddle is dispensed with…

Yeah, I think you're right about the no deal, it's just not happening. But what can ordinary people do to prepare?

You know Germany let in the asylum seekers before the referendum, right? Remember Farage's poster with the queue of migrants:(https://twitter.com/brendanjharkin/status/743388925834702848/photo/1?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E743388925834702848 ) My work colleagues were repeating fake news from Facebook saying the EU was going to force the UK to accept migrants as part of free movement. It was definitely a factor in the vote.

I'm sorry TV, but to everyone else it looks like we'll end up with no deal. Do you have any reason to believe this or is it all castles in the air?
