Its matter of public record that he doesn't drive a car. He rides a bike or takes the bus.

But for once, Trollence actually didn't tell a lie....his Its a geographical political prerequisite, is true....all presidential candidates, while campaigning in the NE, are almost obliged to put that hard leather hat on their heads, trying to identify themselves with local customs....while down South they need to sip mate with the 'Gauchos'...just like all politicians hold babies, hug and kiss old women, take selfies with supporters....a lot of bs, but it's what's expected of them...
I knew I'd spoken too soon...Trollence DID tell a lie....referring to Haddad, he claims ”Haddad was selected as the best mayor(São Paulo) in South America

TH
TWO “ prestigious” (?) awards....if you think so…One, from Bloomberg Philanthropies…Ah, you mean the one Michael Bloomberg owns, liberal, ex-Mayor of NYC, and well-known for supporting leftist causes ? Two, the “Mayors Challenge, awarded by the UN to São Paulo (in 2013) for a city project envisioning environmental friendliness, modernism, quality of life improvement…a wonderful project, “on paper”, which delivered none of the aforementioned targets…just need to live here to see what happened ..or better, what didn’t happen during Haddad’s tenure. He connected no dots...but that‘s you Terry, lapping up the crap, “sem conhecimento de causa”.
Oh, Haddad has 2 degrees and a Phd ? Did he send you proof of those claims ? I also know people with 2 degrees and a master’s…also from the USP…so what ? “
As those who know ?” and who are they ? Haddad’s family, Manuela D’Avila ?
You claim I asked you to “add some more… about Brazil ranking 6th in the world economy”…”in quotation marks”, means nothing……but pls, show me the paragraph in which I posted it….if you don’t mind.
The public record also showed that the 5th and 6th places were fleeting and due, far more to England’s and France’s economic recession after the 2008 crisis, than Brazil’s performance….but ok, I can see how difficult it must be for you understand “complicated” numbers. End of story for you, Numb Nuts.

Fact: So under his stewardship São Paulo received two prestigious Awards
Fact: He holds four post-graduate degrees
My opinion holds exactly the same validity as yours.
Please.. Nope as your harping on continually about what Brazil's place was economically, is a sufficency as to the expression.
were fleeting Thats irrelevant, you claimed they were not in sixth place, and I have shown articles claiming sixth and fifth. Therefore, showing you are lying yet again, end of story.
What ever you are lacking in intelligence, you more than make up for in stupidity.
TH
Fact : Still waiting for you to tell me where I posted “add some more… about Brazil ranking 6th in the world economy”…
Fact : You can't find it....neither can I.
Fake : he was a good mayor ...
Fact : he was so shitty, he lost his bid for re-election in the first round....
Fact : Terry refuses to accept that reality...
Ah, Haddad NOW has FOUR degrees ??....WOW, he's the man.
.....Yes, you are right....I believe in the secret to happiness.
With all due respect, Jack, and you know my political leanings, inasmuch as a centrist can have a leaning, I don't think I could vote for either of these candidates. Luckily I am not Brazilian.. ;)
@imoyaro
Don't know whether you've been following my posts on other threads, but during the political campaign, I made clear my first choices were Amoedo and Alckmin...as it turned out, Amoedo didn't have a chance (hopefully he will in the future) and Alckmin, besides not growing - as he and his supporters expected - buried himself when he said he'd back the PT in the 2nd round....with the two options available, I voted for Bolsonaro.
While I'm perfectly aware of his military background, and his manner of speaking - more like a military man than a politician - which has got some people scared - I don't believe for a minute, he will try to implement anything other than a centrist government, with emphasis on law and order, and combatting privileges and corruption....his convergence to the centre will be a 'must' if he wishes to get Congress help him pass the essential reforms...fact remains, that after 14 years of PT, most people are fed up with their leftist, populist bs.
Seems most remember that the PT is responsible for Brazil's recession....so does the PT, but they refuse to admit it....however, sensing how much people are starting to dislike them, they removed Lula's photo from their TV propaganda, as well as eliminated (only temporarily, no doubt) the red flag with the commie star....and to top it, at a political rally three days ago (for the PT), Cid Gomes (Ciro's brother, and 'sort of' an ally) called the 'petistas' a bunch of assholes whio still haven't realized Lula is in jail, and said that the PT needed to apologize for screwing Brazil....PT's president, Gleisi Hofmann's replied that the PT had nothing to apologize for, just showing her and the party's filthy arrogance.
Faced with Lula for another 4 years (as his 'post' Haddad travels to Curitiba once a week to get his blessing), and Bolsonaro, whom I think will tone down his rhetoric after the election, there wasn't much to think about.
Letter from Paris: Trump and Jair Bolsonaro: inspiration comes from Hitler
Cambridge Analytica played a key role in the American election and works on the Brazilian campaign
Earlier, a presidential election was won with a coherent political program. Today, it is won with shallow slogans, fake news and a lot of manipulation through sophisticated internet tools, nebulous and incomprehensible to most voters, the target audience of this new electoral war machine.
...The idea behind the documentary is that the election of Trump was a manipulation that became possible with the theft of 87 million Facebook profiles and their personal data.
It is the fake news and the algorithms fighting, at an immeasurably more effective level, the debate of ideas and political proposals.
With Steve Bannon, Cambridge Analytica led Trump to victory and with the same strategy the company succeeded in influencing English voters to vote for England's departure from the European Union, an objective of English and American rights. Trump's victory and Brexit stem from the same kind of information manipulation, fake news, and messages directed at a previously chosen target audience.
Several texts have already reported that Steve Bannon and Cambridge Analytica participate in Jair Bolsonaro's campaign. To make the Trump campaign, the company received $ 11 million. It is not known how much he earns in Brazil.
But in Bolsonaro this nationalism is of a facade. Do not count on him to defend the sovereignty of Brazil. He saluted the American flag at a campaign meeting in Miami and has already declared himself in favor of giving up the Amazon.
We have to explore this region in partnerships. The Amazon is not ours,” he said in Natal. https://www.cartamaior.com.br/?/Editoria/Cartas-do-Mundo/Trump-e-Jair-Bolsonaro-a-inspiracao-vem-de-Hitler/45/42069
Letter from Paris....an article published by Carta Maior, or as they call themselves, The Portal for the Brazilian Left....wouldn't expect anything less biased such a bunch of communists.
Anyway, getting down to facts, what Bolsonaro - at the end of 2017 - was trying to convey, is that given how Brazil treats the Amazon region, it MIGHT AS WELL hand it over to the USA...very different to wanting to get rid of it.
The predatory exploration and the lack of serious control has permitted hundreds of 1000s of sq km of forest to be chopped down over the last decades. Its western borders are virtually unprotected, the indigenous populations have been given over 1,000,000 sq kms of land, much of it bordering other countries, so the partial loss of sovereignty” seems already like much of a done deal, due to not looking after it.
Although extremely polemic, it would make sense to 'outsource its caretaking' (NOT handing it over) to a responsible country, or group of countries, that would result in its preservation, and help fight global warming (to the extent it is being caused by man).
The Amazon should be regarded as something more than just Brazilian territory (which with unscrupulous Brazilians can do whatever they want with it), and be maintained as a legacy for humanity . If Brazil can't cope with that responsibility, then perhaps it would be better off as an international territory, something like Antartica.
JB
So the facts shown are true as you can't refute them.
”MIGHT AS WELL” hand it over to the USA“
Might as well throw in a dash of treason, thats what Brazil needs.
@JB
it would make sense to 'outsource its caretaking' to a responsible country
To the government that wants to build oil pipelines in the Arctic, remove environmental protections, and doesn't believe in global warming? Actually, I'm impressed you still care; the US right seems to have declared war on the environment and on science, just because the left supports them.
Anyway, you're right that Brazil isn't doing a good job of looking after the Amazon, but unfortunately other countries will most likely only be interested in what they can get out of it.
DT
IMO, not necessarily to the US, but to a group of countries that have a good record of respecting the environment. Don't be impressed, I'm not the type of person who shoots himself in the foot....
Regardless, a solution needs to be found, within Brazil, outside of it, or a combination of both. The main thing is it needs to be preserved.
I'm not the type of person who shoots himself in the foot....
Glad to hear it. :) What you're suggesting could work, and I think a group of countries or an international organisation would be the best bet, but it would mean them having the power to overrule the Brazilian government's decisions in some circumstances, right?
I think that if such an agreement was signed, Brazil would have to relinquish certain rights (during its validity), and agree that only verifiable and sustainable exploration of the forest could be carried out - (as it was before they started chopping down trees for lumber, and/ or cattle pastures) - as too many cooks spoil the broth...if the intention of such an agreement is to have any real, beneficial effect, both parties need to respect the terms of the agreement.
Seems like a good idea, though it would have been better to try and set it up a few years ago, I reckon. Right now, with internationalism out of fashion and nationalism spreading everywhere, I just can't see it happening. Its a shame, the forest needs protecting. (And of course I have sympathy, being a tree myself. ;) )
Air-Pollution is just ONE kind of pollution. Water, Food, Sound, etc are the other forms of pollution. Perhaps the following video as a mind-opener to many: https://youtu.be/7Lc_dlVrg5M
Bolsonaro, ... is currently being advised by Steve Bannon in his campaign.
He wants criminals to be summarily shot rather than face trial. He presents indigenous people as “parasites” and also advocates for discriminatory, eugenically devised forms of birth control. Bolsonaro has warned about the danger posed by refugees from Haiti, Africa, and the Middle East, calling them “the scum of humanity” and even argued that the army should take care of them.
He regularly makes racist and misogynistic statements. For example, he accused Afro-Brazilians of being obese and lazy and defended physically punishing children to try to prevent them from being gay. He has equated homosexuality with pedophilia...
But does sounding like a Nazi make him a Nazi? ... Recently, Bolsonaro argued that he would never accept defeat in the election and suggested that the army might agree with his view. This is a clear threat to democracy.
Bolsonaro sees no legitimacy in the opposition, which for him represents tyrannical powers. He said last month that his political opponents, members of the Workers’ Party, should be executed.
...the German Embassy was besieged online by commentators claiming Nazism was socialism. ..and many of the outraged commenters on the German Embassy’s post were supporters of the former military man...Fascists always deny what they are and ascribe their own features and their own totalitarian politics to their enemies. https://foreignpolicy.com/2018/10/05/bolsonaros-model-its-goebbels-fascism-nazism-brazil-latin-america-populism-argentina-venezuela/
tirade from.. a well regarded qualified publication, to make reasoned assessments. But with your own declared propensity for fascism, I can see an obvious difficulty with being rationally objective.
@Terry
There's no point posting that here, you're not going to change Jack's mind. Why don't you find a Brazilian forum, or comment on some of their newspapers?
@JB
What a load of bullshit. Hitler hated the left, he hated communists as much as Jews. The far right should have the courage of their (despicable) convictions and admit that they agree with Hitler.
DT
you're not going to change Jack's mind. I don't intend to try, what I post is not for the benefit of those who have closed minds, as I have ready declared. I'm just correcting the record that have not posted my personal view. It is a quote from a US publication, Foreign Policy.
Why don't you find a Brazilian forum, because I can be a force for good here, rather than leaving the field to the liars.
or comment on some of their newspapers? I do use Brazilian publications, but I give them a translation into English, to meet the forum requirements.
That's my point. What good are you doing here, a tiny forum where most people don't have a vote? If you posted on a Brazilian site, you could try and convince the people who matter.
TH
Funny, without even mentioning your name, you soon realized the hat fit. Your publications are all leftist, so what do you expect them to say about anyone who isn't ?
rationally objective....what do you know of that ? you are neither rational, nor objective.
What you post here is for your own benefit only.....just trying to convince yourself.
Yr Brazilian publications, let's see : averdadedelula, Blogdacidadania and other left-wing crap.....but I suppose it's where you manage to find the shit you need to support your narrative....i.e., Lula is a good, honest man, Lula never tried to censor the press, Lula never stole a penny for himself....or for his children, or his late wife, Lula raised 100 million out of poverty into the middle class, Lula created 18 federal Universities from scratch, Lula never spent Brazil's money (BNDES funds) overseas with his leftist friends (in detriment of Brazil's development), the NE is not the poorest region in Brazil, Lula did not push Brazil into a recession, Lula is only in jail because he wanted the best for Brazilians etc....
BTW, you're right, you never post your 'personal' view...always someone else's.
And you 'give the Brazilian publications a translation into English'....how thoughtful of you, but BS in Portuguese is no less BS when translated into English.
@DT
That's what the left always say......they can't stand the idea that perhaps the two have more in common than they like to admit....Neverthess, you are free to think it's total bullshit ...
I have no intention to try to convince you otherwise.
As to the far-right, and their despicable convictions, where exactly, in a positive way, does the far-left differ from them ? OR, what were the positive things about communism in the USSR ?
Hitler did have something in common with Stalin; both were dictators, running totalitarian governments. But that doesn't make Hitler left-wing, any more than it makes Stalin right-wing.
And why should I defend communism? I don't support it, and I was happy when it ended in the USSR. As for Lula, he's no Stalin and he's not even Chavez, despite the fact they were allies. You can argue he screwed up handling the economy, but he didn't make himself dictator, unlike many in Latin America. He didn't even install enough allies in the STF to grant his habeus corpus, compared to Maduro who was able to have the whole of Congress suspended when the opposition gained a majority. Most likely Lula wasn't planning to run for president again until Dilma's impeachment, either.
@DT
But what differentiates the two, what makes one (L) suposedly better than the other (R)?
Ok, YOU don't support communism, but the left always criticizes the far-right as if they didn't have something just as bad on the far-left. I don't advocate either extreme, but the constant criticism of the right to defend the left, pisses me off.
Lula wasn't Chavez, although he shared the same dream, Lula isn't Maduro yet he defends what Maduro is doing....Lula was very friendly with Fidel, Saddam, Khadafi (who reportedly donated US$ 1 million to his campaign), African dictators (one caught just two weeks ago trying to enter Brazil with the equivalent of R$ 50 million - rumors say it was to keep Haddad's campaign going...who knows ?), Kirchner (now facing corruption charges as well), Peru's Fujimori, Morales, Rafael Correa, Mujica, Daniel Ortega...all very nice people...but he had no 'friends' in the UK, rest of EU, Asia, or US...and everyone believed BO loved Lula because he joked that Lula was the man...LOL.
Being dictator, had he the chance, was Lula's dream....presiding over the Union of South American Socialist Republics, one big lovely continent, ruled by one party, and the people in the shit....if there's no truth behind that, then what is the Foro de São Paulo ? a reunion of Latin American Communist parties, to get together once a year for a BBQ ?
Lula thought he could actually realize his 30 year project for power, during which he would slowly but surely, and silently go encroaching on people's freedoms, until they had no power to react....what cut short his plans short was Dilma's impeachment and the fact Brazil's institutions, whether or not models to be followed, guaranteed the continuation of some version of democracy. Same as the 'triplex'....he didn't own it (legally, on paper), only because the Lavajato caught on to the corruption scheme in time.
Right, Lula was NOT intending to run...reason why I maintain the Lavajato was not out to get him.

Oct 16th, 2018 - 06:09 pm - Link - Report abuse +1TWO “ prestigious” (?) awards....if you think so…One, from Bloomberg Philanthropies…Ah, you mean the one Michael Bloomberg owns, liberal, ex-Mayor of NYC, and well-known for supporting leftist causes ?

Luckily I am not Brazilian.. ;)

Oct 17th, 2018 - 05:28 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Don't know whether you've been following my posts on other threads, but during the political campaign, I made clear my first choices were Amoedo and Alckmin...as it turned out, Amoedo didn't have a chance (hopefully he will in the future) and Alckmin, besides not growing - as he and his supporters expected - buried himself when he said he'd back the PT in the 2nd round....with the two options available, I voted for Bolsonaro.
Oct 18th, 2018 - 01:42 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Cambridge Analytica played a key role in the American election and works on the Brazilian campaign

Letter from Paris....an article published by Carta Maior, or as they call themselves, The Portal for the Brazilian Left....wouldn't expect anything less biased such a bunch of communists.
Oct 18th, 2018 - 07:01 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Anyway, getting down to facts, what Bolsonaro - at the end of 2017 - was trying to convey, is that given how Brazil treats the Amazon region, it MIGHT AS WELL hand it over to the USA...very different to wanting to get rid of it.

Oct 18th, 2018 - 10:40 pm - Link - Report abuse 0IMO, not necessarily to the US, but to a group of countries that have a good record of respecting the environment. Don't be impressed, I'm not the type of person who shoots himself in the foot....
Regardless, a solution needs to be found, within Brazil, outside of it, or a combination of both. The main thing is it needs to be preserved.
I'm not the type of person who shoots himself in the foot....
Oct 19th, 2018 - 08:44 am - Link - Report abuse 0Glad to hear it.
Oct 19th, 2018 - 05:15 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Seems like a good idea, though it would have been better to try and set it up a few years ago, I reckon. Right now, with internationalism out of fashion and nationalism spreading everywhere, I just can't see it happening. Its a shame, the forest needs protecting. (And of course I have sympathy, being a tree myself. ;) )

Bolsonaro, ... is currently being advised by Steve Bannon in his campaign.
Oct 20th, 2018 - 02:37 pm - Link - Report abuse 0He wants criminals to be summarily shot rather than face trial.
He said last month that his political opponents, members of the Workers’ Party, should be executed.

rationally objective....what do you know of that ? you are neither rational, nor objective.
@DT
Oct 20th, 2018 - 10:09 pm - Link - Report abuse 0And why should I defend communism? I don't support it, and I was happy when it ended in the USSR. As for Lula, he's no Stalin and he's not even Chavez, despite the fact they were allies. You can argue he screwed up handling the economy, but he didn't make himself dictator, unlike many in Latin America. He didn't even install enough allies in the STF to grant his habeus corpus, compared to Maduro who was able to have the whole of Congress suspended when the opposition gained a majority. Most likely Lula wasn't planning to run for president again until Dilma's impeachment, either.
@DT
Oct 20th, 2018 - 11:17 pm - Link - Report abuse 0But what differentiates the two, what makes one (L) suposedly better than the other (R)?
