Brazil's right-wing President-elect Jair Bolsonaro named a pro-life evangelical pastor to head a new ministry of Women, Family and Human Rights that will also take over the agency looking after the country's 850,000 indigenous people. Damares Alves, a lawyer, preacher and congressional aide, is a staunch opponent of legalizing abortion, which is allowed only in cases of rape, anencephaly or when the mother's life is in danger. Why are you so bitter lately? Yes I agree that Bolsonaro is making Populist decisions, but why is that wrong? In the article: The issue has gained more importance as the destruction of Brazil's Amazon hit its highest level in a decade, the [current] government said last month. It's no secret that the current government is responsible for the partial destruction of the Amazon and it's doubtful the upcoming Bolsonaro government will be any worse.

Because the world's going to hell in a hand basket, that's why. The sort of populism that wrecked Argentina and so many other Latin American countries has come to Europe and the US, and all you can do is cheer it on. Suddenly you've turned into a bloody hippy wanting to stick it to the man?

Is it wrong? Do you, Chicureo, support his policies or not? D'you think it's a good idea for indigenous people to integrate with the rest of Brazil (so they can live in favelas and get shot by drug dealers) while other people get rich mining their former homes and the politicians take their cut to allow it?

And considering Bolso wants to open up more of the Amazon to mining and farming, there's good reason to think he'll be even worse than the current government.

Each govt first looks after their interests FIRST [at least tries to do so]! It's THEIR birth-right. So what's wrong? Do you still believe that the politicians are PATRIOTS???
