Yes Roger- Think knows, I was indeed there. And on March 26th also. Eventfull days both. The issue is- yes we no doubt differ widely on the political issues- but- even hardline Islanders take the view that there are 2 issues- One is Sovereignty of our Islands. The other is the right to respect and dignity in their final resting places of those who died in battle- in the uniform of their country, under orders- doing their job- irrespective of the colour of their uniform.
Alive- yes they were our enemies- but having paid the ultimate price- they deserve some respect and a decent resting place.
Its all about that, dignity decency and respect - and politics does not come into it. That was crystal clear to everyone there the other day. A decent man - saying from his heart- Thankyou- to Islanders for what they have done to allow those families to finally grieve and square the circle of their loss.

It was a political decision by the Junta in 1982 not to repatriate their dead. It was a political decision in 1999 to allow access to the cemetery as part of other negotiations. It was a political decision to allow DNA testing, as part of larger negotiations.

    I'm a cynic. It's all political.

And from what I hear, news of this visit was not given until it was almost too late for the local Radio to organise a reporter. Why would that be? Politics?

    Roger,
Was basically a private visit. Was not a secret as such, those who went from FI side were not told to keep it quiet.but agree FIG did shoot itself in the foot over the way they handled the mews side of it- they do have a recent habit of doing so every time!
The boss of Infobae came as a personal friend and guest of the benefactor and I guess to do a factual report - which he did.

Thank you. These days, it would seem that the FIG need more feet ;-)

They do seem to be lacking a bit on the anatomy side a tad further up at times. Currently it appears policy is often be devious rather than truthfull where possible- appreciate not always possible to tell all the truth at that time when negotiations ongoing of course,

Of course, but when you promise to 'consult' you should 'consult' not 'present.' There was even a hint of arrogance in the second meeting with regard to 'mandates.' The picture presented is not one of self-government, but of subservience and excuses. That may not be the reality, but if so then FIG need to get a grip before they appear irrelevant.

Absolutely no reason for FIG not to have facilitated reporting of this visit. Gilbert House need to be more confident in their right to manage media opportunities. Interesting to see Robin Christopher in the group, not sure which side he is on.
