A “Malvinas Heroes” library to the opened at the End of the World lighthouse

An Argentine yacht with a crew of five, one of them a survivor of the sinking of ARA General Belgrano during the Falklands conflict have left Bahia Blanca for Ushuaia and then on to the End of the World Lighthouse at the Isla de los Estados, where they plan to open a library under the name of “Malvinas Heroes”.

Venezuela's opposition-run congress on Tuesday formally declared President Nicolas Maduro a “usurper” whose actions would be considered null and void, after he was sworn in last week for a disputed second term. Maduro was inaugurated on Jan. 10 under an avalanche of criticism that his leadership was illegitimate following a 2018 election widely viewed as fraudulent.

The pound has risen after MPs voted to reject Theresa May's Brexit deal by 230 votes. Sterling rose 0.05% to $1.287 after declines of more than 1% earlier in the day. The currency slumped 7% in 2018 reflecting uncertainty about the terms of the UK's exit from the European Union.

PM May Brexit deal pulverized by Parliament; Corbyn tables a no confidence vote for this Wednesday

Prime Minister Theresa May's Brexit deal was rejected in Parliament by 230 votes - the largest defeat for a sitting government in history. MPs voted by 432 votes to 202 to reject the deal, which sets out the terms of Britain's exit from the EU on 29 March.

Australia exposed to record temperatures: some 45C expected this Wednesday

Australians have been warned to avoid exerting themselves outdoors and to drink lots of water as record temperatures in parts of the country look set to linger, and even increase, over coming days.
