Craig Faller, head of U.S. Southern Command, told U.S. senators on Thursday that Havana “owns the security around Maduro and is deeply entrenched in the intelligence service.”

Two new South Atlantic trawlers to be built at Nodosa shipyard, Galicia

The Galicia, Spain-based boat-builder Nodosa Shipyard has received orders for a pair of new Spanish trawlers during the past month. In its most recent order, Nodosa signed a contract with the Spanish harvester Pescapuerta Group to build a new freezer stern trawler for fishing in the South Atlantic. It aims to have delivered the vessel by the end of 2020, ready to enter full operations for the spring 2021 season.

Fire at Rio's Flamengo training center kills ten teenage footballers

A fire at the training centre of Rio de Janeiro soccer club Flamengo killed 10 people and injured at least three others on Friday, firefighters said. Measles 2017/18 outbreak in Europe, the highest in a decade

The number of recorded measles cases in Europe more than tripled between 2017 and 2018, marking the highest it’s been in a decade, the World Health Organization said. According to newly released data from the WHO, in 2018, more than 82,000 people were infected with the disease and 72 people died in Europe. In 2017, there were more than 25,000 measles cases in Europe and 42 deaths.
