The Governor of St Helena, Ascension Island and Tristan Da Cunha, Dr Philip Rushbrook, accompanied by his wife Janis, are St. Helena. Dr. Rushbrook is the 69th governor or St Helena and the first to arrive by air.
The Governor Designate and Mrs Rushbrook were met last Saturday at St Helena Airport by HE the Acting Governor, the Chief Secretary and the Aide de Camp before being greeted in the Airport Business Lounge by The Rt Rev The Lord Bishop of St Helena, the Honorable Speaker, Honorable Deputy Speaker, Honorable Members of Legislative Council, the Sheriff of St Helena and the DFID on-Island Representative.
The Governor Designate and Mrs. Rushbrook were then be taken to Plantation House.
The Inauguration Ceremony took place in front of the Supreme Court Terrace, when Uniformed Contingents and schoolchildren will be on parade.
Following the ceremony, the Governor and Mrs Rushbrook proceeded to the Governor’s Office at the Castle where they greeted Councilors, officials, dignitaries and members of the public.
Former Governor Lisa Honan and Mr Dave Honan departed St Helena on Saturday, 4 May 2019, at the end of HE’s three-year term in office. Members of the public were able to bid farewell to Governor Lisa in the Governor’s Office on Thursday, 2 May.
