The sale of tickets for the scheduled air service to the British Overseas Territory of St Helena went live on Friday. The St Helena government, a British Overseas Territory in mid Atlantic has said that a commercial aircraft completed a successful proving flight to the island. The Airlink’s Embraer E190-100IGW departed St Helena Airport on Tuesday afternoon following the main flight from Johannesburg and several flight trials before returning to South Africa.
Airlink are expected to carry out a ‘proving flight’ to the British Oversea Territory of St Helena on Monday, 21 August 2017, using an Embraer E190-100IGW aircraft. This proving flight is for Airlink to demonstrate to the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) operational proficiency in terms of ETOPS (Extended Range Twin Engine Operations) requirements.
