Why should the British taxpayer fund such extravagance for 30,000 people - we could use that money better in Birmingham and the North.

Pyt- On wrong planet! FIGovt will be funding it- and UK will receive a lot of the money in materials and equipment exported from Uk to Falklands and brtish resident people coming down here to work on it - paid with FI money that then after tax largely ends up in their Uk bank accounts for them to spend in UK.

So UK actually will Benefit by quite few £millions!

Mr Rowland confirmed that BAM-Nutall are part of a local consortium that includes local businesses already........In fact, they are a DUTCH owned company. Why ae the public projects so much enamoured by Dutch companies?
Pyt - don't know where you get 30,000 population from - you have a decimal point in the wrong place.....but the British Govt will not be contributing to the port at all.

Where exactly has FIG outlined the location of the new port?
A few years ago there were at least three places - presumably they settled on the promontory opposite Engineers Point?

this project is for a shallow water port. what about the long awaited second deep water port or will the existing one at mare harbour be adequate for all users for the foreseeable future?
