The move is a setback for Bolsonaro’s government, which has made entry into the OECD a priority in order to increase confidence in the country and attract more investment.

OECD’s environmental policy committee canceled a planned discussion this week about upgrading Brazil’s status in the group, the Folha de Sao Paulo newspaper reported, citing a document.

The move is a potential setback for President Jair Bolsonaro’s government, which has made entry into the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development a priority in order to increase confidence in the country and attract more investment.

Consideration of Brazil was removed from the agenda at the Feb. 9 meeting after committee members received a letter from the U.S.-based group Human Rights Watch with questions about Bolsonaro’s environmental policies, Folha reported.

France is leading the opposition, arguing that Brazil’s participation could undermine the credibility of the group’s Environmental Committee, says Valor Economico.

The meeting will instead focus on Bulgaria, another country trying to join the Paris-based group.

Folha reported that Brazil’s foreign ministry has said it’s awaiting a response from the OECD’s environmental policy committee. The OECD declined to comment to the newspaper.

This news must be music for Teresa Hill — who has strongly protested against the current president of Brazil.

She still feels violated that Bolsonaro remains in power. (She is the self proclaimed expert about Brazilian bathroom facilities.)

It's uplifting that in a difficult and challenging environment we all are having to confront — she unusual Canadian has gone into isolated seclusion into her mother's basement which should be applauded as no person has to endure her less-than-charming personality.

In fact Teresa perhaps should be given an award for not intermixing with others and as long as her mother still goes shopping for frozen microwaveable food at the local supermarket and the Canadian government keeps providing financial welfare payments — Teresa will be able to pay her cable television provider continues her access of 300+ channels of marvelous soap-opera drama.

As many know — Canadian residents are experiencing a frigid polar vortex with miserable low temperatures which is unlike the pleasant warm weather that we're enjoying here in Chile.
