“Nationalism is a useless myth, certainly not the way to address current and real problems”, underlined the historian and political analyst Beatriz Sarlo who last week triggered a storm in Argentina by reiterating that the Falkland Islands are a British territory, belong to the Kelpers and remind her of southern Scotland.     Quite pathetic for a country to base a sovereignty claim on a so-called usurpation that occurred nearly 200 years ago.

    I hope that Beatriz Sarlo is strong enough to stand up for her opinion and not, as many others, have to apology and undergo “self-criticism”. Otherwise she could perhaps apply for political asylum in the Falklands.

    The many decades of indoctrination through the Argentine School system has resulted in 80% of the people believing in the Malvinas Myth. But 20% not doing so is perhaps encouraging. If some decent Argentines could form an organization working for the “autodeterminación para los kelpers” it would be step forward.

    If Argentina were confident of their case they would have gone to the ICJ years ago,
    the have not,, why, because they have no case,
