European authorities finally decided to drop the contagion map approach to decide who gets in and who gets out of the bloc and switch to a coordinated mechanism based on each individual's vaccination status against COVID-19, the European Council announced Tuesday.

Cubans keep flocking into Uruguay seeking asylum

The number of Cubans entering Uruguay through the land crossings from Brazil is noticeably on the rise, it was reported Tuesday. According to press reports, so far this year 135 people of that nationality have crossed through the Rivera pass from Santana do Livramento at an average of six individuals daily. Uruguayan Migrations authorities have reported that of the 135 who came in only two went out at a later date. Many of them were carrying the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which added to the migrant services overwhelming.

Climate change concern: Gentoo colonies moving further south

Assange may appeal his extradition before the UK's Supreme Court

British magistrates Ian Burnett and Tim Holroyde Monday ruled there was a legal technicality in Julian Assange's case worth reviewing by the country's highest court and therefore cleared the way for the latter's extradition to the United States to be appealed against.
