Show of force being a commitment to defence.

What is Argentina's problem? Were they planning something?

There lays the problem. Argentina is saber rattling and continuing to show acts of aggression towards the Falkland islands people. To counter this act of Aggression Britain is countering that by stepping up its security and protection of the people of the Islands.
Argentines would do well to realise that if they continue a thing aggressively then our forces will continue to meet those aggressive acts with a deterrent of suitable needs.
If we did not have such a deterrent force Argentina would undoubtedly invade again. That there is no doubt.

*Argentina's diplomatic office said the UK's measures were “new acts of hostility” and insisted on the South American country's “peaceful vocation” and “permanent and constant will to resume negotiations with the United Kingdom in order to reach a definitive solution to the sovereignty dispute.”

Argentina’s constitution destroys her claim to the Falklands.

I side with the Ukraine President that the conflict has become over exaggerated which has damaged their economy. We do no need the current world economic difficulties be inflamed by a new crisis.

We just returned with the grandchildren to visit the Humboldt penguin colony located nearby to Cachagua Island — nearby to Zapallar.

Today’s late le déjeuner was Pan con Chicharrón (Peruvian crispy pork sandwiches) that were absolutely delicious! (The aji amarillo paste is absolutely essential.)

In my humble opinion — a weak ununited NATO lead by one of the corrupt USA leaders — is utilizing this crisis into hide their own economic shortcomings by unfairly Russia.

This is the USA delaying the completion of the Russian pipeline to Germany and hopefully cooler western political leaders will stop this Russian roulette stupidity…

It was a pity that we didn’t stay the afternoon in Zapallar…

I don't know why Argentina is getting upset really. They have replaced Rapier, which was old and outdated with something far more accurate and therefore more likely to hit it's intended target, minimizing any collateral damage and it requires less manpower to operate. So there is actually a draw-down in personnel numbers.
It's not as if Britain is escalating things is it? After all, is it not Argentina that annually stages an “invasion of the Falklands” scenario? Are they not the ones trying to buy new aircraft?

I think Argentina needs to continually accept their non-aggressive peaceful approach to the conflict — as it’s highly clear the Falklanders will never abandon their liberty.

Too blood and treasure has been lost…

I awoke this beautiful morning in the perfumed bedsheets of ma fiancée enchanteresse and after a morning stroll along the beach — enjoyed smoked salmon with avocado on sourdough toast.

Unlike your countrymen who attacked a peaceful region with brutal aggression…

The Russian federation is defending the communities who wish to be defended against corruption and disorder. (I would add that Crimea was always a part of Russia until a political change during the USSR.)

NATO needs to leave the Russian bear alone as it’s obvious it’s a zero sum proposition…

As you know — I’ve become very disappointed in the USA current political rhetoric…

Doesn't take long for those on less stable ground on here to descend to personal abuse does it. The fact of the matter is that Sky Sabre is a defensive missile system, as was its predecessor Rapier. No threat to anyone who doesn't encroach on our sovereign territory.

Argentina has every right to defend its coastal areas, territorial sea and economic areas out to 200 miles, and to control the exploitation and management of resources in its economic zone. No more, no less.

I agree with Mike Summers In that Argentina should be allowed to control their boundary but that must never include trying to control our territorial rights. That of course is exactly what they are trying to do under the pretences that the islands belong to them and as countless statements have made very clear, they do not.
That is why it is very important for Britain to make sure they are equipped to a level that allows them to safely protect our sovereign territory.

It would seem the Argentinian Gov is a bit sensitive to these little reminders that the British are not only still there, but in ‘full effect’.

An unwelcome reminder that their ‘bicontinental vision’ of a ‘Greater Argyland’, is but a vision, of theirs, which does not reflect the reality on the ground.

    It bursts their bubble.

Oh and for the record, should any readers be concerned. No Yugoslavians..., the Irakis..., the Lybians..., the Syrians..., the Afghanis were, ‘f*cked up’, with the deployment of this defensive missile system.

An MOD sposkesman said, ‘it’s not that the system isn’t capable of ‘f*cking up’ said Tinteds, it’s just that there are none there, even for target practice purposes we have to use Penguins’.

    Chicureo-CMoTA
Greeting my friend, I trust all is well with you and yours, enjoying the Pacific coast.

‘Capabilities’ can quickly change especially with outside help, better to have it there in advance, just in case.

From a purely practical perspective Rapier was decommissioned, it either had to be replaced or the Islands left without that capability.

I would agree, there are certainly legacy issues from the Soviet Union which like all empires drew boundaries according to political and administrative thinking, with little regard for the populations on the ground.

Here however Russia/Putin is trying to exert control over a non-Russian people and country, whatever his version of history says. Countries like Ukraine are not running towards to West, but running away from Russia.

The reality is few NATO countries want Ukraine in NATO, because then they would not hesitate to get into a war with Russia that they would never dream of otherwise.

    Otherwise all is well here.
