Commemorating the 40th anniversary of the illegal and unwarranted conflict?
Jul 18th, 2022 - 10:24 am - Link - Report abuse +1Strange people these Narnians - with inflation running at 64% and the country being one of the most likely in the world to default on its loans, you would think that they would have more important and integral matters to deal with.
More bizarre nonsense from the Argentine politicians ,awarding medals for a failed illegal invasion,
Jul 18th, 2022 - 10:56 am - Link - Report abuse 0‘Malvinas Feat’, really???
Jul 18th, 2022 - 02:27 pm - Link - Report abuse +1Surely they mean Malvinas Defeat!!!
I think it's best for both sides (the settlers and Argentines) to stop the mutual aggressions and start working at the converging points, seeking economic, cultural and political approximation.
Jul 18th, 2022 - 02:55 pm - Link - Report abuse -1This would be better for everyone. England and South America could get closer, Westerners could make new friends on this side of the planet. And the USA certainly wouldn't be on a tightrope like they are now.
Seriously talk about it.
It's my opinion
They’re not, they are absolutely clear on the issue.
Jul 18th, 2022 - 03:14 pm - Link - Report abuse 0'As late as 1886 the Secretary of State found it necessary to inform the Argentine Government that as “the resumption of actual occupation of the Falkland Islands by Great Britain in 1833 took place under a claim of title which had been previously asserted and maintained by that Government, it is not seen that the Monroe Doctrine, which has been invoked on the part of the Argentine Republic, has any application to the case. By the terms in which that principle of international conduct was announced, it was expressly excluded from retroactive operation.”

“United States ambassador to Argentina, Mark Stanley … it is a very complicated issue”.
“He (Biden) said: ”I believe that my resolution which clearly calls for us to state whose side we're on - which is the British side …”
The world is getting smaller and smaller to allow this kind of problem to have any side. The problem is with all of us.
Jul 18th, 2022 - 03:25 pm - Link - Report abuse -1The failure to resolve the Falklands Question is bringing increasing problems to England and the USA. And also for Argentina, of course.
And how else are Argentine governments going to distract their population from the country’s slide into Venezuelanisation.
Jul 18th, 2022 - 03:50 pm - Link - Report abuse 0They don’t keep this argument going because they believe in it.
There is simply nothing to be gained by the UK or Falkland Islanders from having any connections with Argentina, only creates more problems.
Consider South America. Consider the volume of trade between South America and England/USA.
Jul 18th, 2022 - 04:11 pm - Link - Report abuse -1Throughout the 20th century, England and the USA always had a preferential position in our trade. We even ignored the Pirara Question in the name of friendship between us. We even dropped the Pink Map Question in the name of friendship between us. We even overlook the ultimatum given by England on the connection between Angola and Mozambique. All in the name of peace.
But here in South America, we cannot allow a European power to dictate the rules.
I still prefer conciliation!
“The Falklands Question is bringing increasing problems to England and the USA.”
Jul 18th, 2022 - 04:42 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Your dreaming, the only significant cost is to Argentina, in maintaining this façade.
The cost of defending the Islands is currently met by Her Majesty's Government, and is estimated to amount 0.177% of the total UK Defence budget annually. Beyond the cost of defence, the Falkland Islands do not receive any further financial assistance from the United Kingdom.

On 2nd January 1984, the construction of Mt Pleasant airfield began on schedule, becoming fully operational in 1986. Notwithstanding the initial outlay to build the new complex, RAF Mt Pleasant would prove to be a cost-saving measure as it enabled transport costs to be cut by over £25 million a year by 1986.

Is the population of the Falklands Islands 67 million people?
Jul 18th, 2022 - 05:09 pm - Link - Report abuse -1Your stubbornness has a price greater than 0.177. Your stubbornness is reflected in the purchasing power and quality of life of 67 million people, apart from Anglo-Americans.
At some point England itself will look at you with suspicious eyes.
We can not allow a European power to dictate the rules, what on earth are you blabbering on about, the Falklanders are no less a people than the Portuguese Brazilians or the Spanish/Italian Argentinians, they have every rite to choose their own future, independence will come eventually and no amount of bullying from Buenos Aires will change that, the very dubious claim by Argentina is a farce, constantly used to try and unite the Argentinian people so they forget about the real economic disaster and corruption that is happening in their own land, the islanders are happy to talk to Buenos Aires but the lunatic asylum in Buenos A will not talk to them, sovereignty is non negotiable, stop being taken in by the propaganda,
