On Monday's piece on the visit of Indian External Affairs minister Dr. S. Jaishankar to Buenos Aires we reported the interest of Argentina to strengthen bilateral defense links and cooperation, and at the same time its interest in the fully made Tejas jet fighter to equip the Argentine Air Force.     An expensive and time consuming task to re-engineer an aircraft to that extent, and for what? Maybe 12 aircraft?

    Also, if it’s so easy to replace these systems with, ‘indigenous replacements’, why haven’t they done it already?

    Maybe the Sino-Pakistani JF-17 fighter is the way to go for Argentina, they will probably accept payment in soya beans, spread over 20-30 years.
