Peruvian authorities have arrested some 200 demonstrators during the weekend after the March of the Four Suyos (Inca empire provinces) advanced on Lima -the so-called “Lima Takeover”- demanding President Dina Boluarte's resignation, in addition to fresh elections and a constituent assembly.

The protesters were taken into custody “in flagrante delicto” at the campus of the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos (UNMSM) where they had chosen to stay without any permission from university authorities.

After the arrests, the rioters who had traveled to Lima from various parts of Peru (hence the “suyos” name given to their movement) were transferred to the headquarters of the Peruvian National Police (PNP) Anti-Terrorism Directorate headquarters.

“Information was gathered on the request for police intervention made by the legal representative of the UNMSM invoking flagrante delicto, which was executed in the framework of the state of emergency decreed by the central government,” the Prosecution said in a statement.

Prime Minister Alberto Otárola explained that the PNP's intervention had been requested by the UNMSM.

After the arrests on Saturday morning, demonstrations still went on in the afternoon in various parts of Lima.

Peruvian media reported Sunday that relatives of the detainees Sunday visited the facilities where their loved ones were held to bring them food and water after many of them spent the night in isolation.

“We remind that support and differentiated treatment must be guaranteed in the case of detained women given their vulnerable condition of being Quechua speakers, pregnancy conditions, and other factors that place them at greater risk,” the Ombudsman's Office said.

Meanwhile, Fujimorist Congressman Ernesto Bustamante called for the Peruvian Army to invade Bolivia to stop the Government of President Luis Arce Catacora from allegedly financing the protests against Boluarte. “Peru must give an ultimatum to the Bolivian government to stop material and financial support to terrorists in Peru. After the deadline without a solution, the Peruvian Army must enter Bolivia and occupy natural resources as a precautionary measure to guarantee further reparations,” he wrote on Twitter on Sunday.

Bustamante substantiated his request with a video of Arce saying that “we have the Peruvian people in a struggle to recover their democracy and also to recover their right to elect a government that represents them.”

”Today's hostile statements by the president of Bolivia, Luis Arce: He does not recognize the government of Peru, he belongs to the MAS party, whose leader is the narco-terrorist Evo Morales and he wears the same flag (whiphala) next to his flag that the terrorists wave in Peru,“ added Bustamante.

”Now it is required that the Peruvian Armed Forces retake control of Puno. It is necessary to encircle and liberate the populations subjugated by the communists. However, first, the border with Bolivia must be militarized - so that no one escapes or Evo Morales' people enter,” he added.

Morales and eight of his political associates are already banned from entering Peru for allegedly seeking to unbalance the internal and democratic order of Peru.
