Dr. Haywood is incorrect or lies (like so many are or do). I of course could not assert which of the two is the case.
Dec 03rd, 2023 - 10:08 am - Link - Report abuse -7Right to Self Determination the islanders of course do have. The mistake or “lie” occurs through the logical order of their belief (or lie). The islanders right to self determination as far as a homeland sovereignty matter would be concerned cannot stand on any political sovereignty authority, but rather in actuality starts or stems from a disagreement conflict between two countries before their arrival on the islands.
For them to have any say or right to this land, they obligatorily should first be asking or demanding or requiring, that these two nations of the world resolve their sovereignty dispute, so that they can later carry on to have a clear and clean lawful engagement with one of these two countries, or both, or none if these were both to abandon their claim in order to accommodate their “right to self determination”. Only then could their political status can start being formalized in righteous truthfulness. As of now their assertions are false.
The United Nations has an unfortunate loophole here, as its sector of Decolonization and People's Self Determination is born out of a colonial era in which there were and still are preexisting “peoples” or countries that later become occupied by a foreign force. It has never considered a situation new people came or were defined later on a land already being disputed by two UN nations.
The people on the Falklands not only came to the Islands AFTER Argentina's denouncement and protest regarding an occupation of part of its territory, but Britain or England has never been “foreign” to them. In fact they were invited to populate the islands in function of Britain's occupation.
If anything, as far as the Malvinas or Falklands are concerned, the United Nations should consider the matter as a matter of Decolonization and Self Determination between; an Argentine people in absentia and Britain.
Whatever you're point of view, let's hope the flying monkey Skippy has admitted need to seek medical help with his gross obesity...
