    Peru: Afghan migrants rescued from people traffickers

    Peruvian authorities Sunday rescued 23 Afghan victims of migrant trafficking, it was reported in Lima. “The Tahuamanu Prosecutor's Office in the district of Madre de Dios achieved the rescue of 23 migrants of Afghan nationality in an operation carried out on the Peru-Brazil border, in coordination with the police,” said a statement from the prosecutor's office.

    Peruvian authorities Saturday declared a 90-day nationwide sanitary emergency due to the “unusual increase” in cases of Guillain-Barré Syndrome, it was reported in Lima. As per President Dina Booluarte's decree, some US$ 3.27 million will be allocated to improving patient care, reinforcing control on the number of detections, and drafting reports for the population and health personnel.

    IMO agrees to cut greenhouse gas emissions from international shipping by mid century

    The International Maritime Organization, IMO on Friday sealed a deal that sets ambitious emissions-cutting targets. IMO agreed to cut total annual emissions of greenhouse gases “by at least 20%, striving for 30% by 2030” and “by at least 70%, striving for 80%, by 2040.”
