The British Ministry of Defense, responsible for the Falkland Islands security, has announced that on January 23 and 24, the Roulement Infantry Company, RIC, will be involved in exercises on Mount Kent and Stanley Common, specifically Mount William and Sapper Hill.

The British Forces South Atlantic Islands, BFSAI, regularly hold exercises involving the three armed forces. On occasions they invite the Falkland Islands Defense Force to participate in the exercises.

The BFSAI besides infantry company can count on four Eurofighter Typhoons and the Offshore Patrol Vessel HMS Forth.

Defence is necessary in the Falklands. After all, they have aggressive neighburs.

Pugol-H, re. “zero and low carbon” reply. You are entirely correct, 40 years ago nary a thought was given to these moon beams and wind chimes. Having said that, in my corner of the world the entire NW coastline of Brazil is now dotted with extensive windfarms of humongous turbines, many overlapping the old pumpjacks still extracting the last remnants of tarry oil left in place. Solar installations have also become ubiquitous and cost efficient, especially for residential use. Has Brazil's petrochemical independence made fuel more affordable for the average citizen? Not that I can tell, though it could be argued (and it has) that it prevented a catastrophic increase. The wind turbines certainly have not resulted in a lower kW price for consumers. And while I see many of the new turbines grinding to a halt, waiting on costly maintenance or replacement, the ancient 'walking beams' are still faithfully bobbing up and down. 'Green' technology appears to lag behind intentions. I was hopeful that with the massive subsidized commercial wind turbine development, smaller, cost effective units for residences and/or ranches would come on the market. I have looked and waited in vain for a decade. ''Low carbon' technology appears to favor the well capitalized and well connected.
