Bolivia recalls ambassador from Buenos Aires
The Bolivian Government Tuesday summoned its ambassador from Buenos Aires for consultations following Casa Rosada's allegations that the June 26 attempted coup d'état in La Paz was staged by President Luis Arce Catacora to improve his dwindling public image.

Alberto Fujimori recovering from his surgery
Former Peruvian President Alberto Fujimori was recovering well Tuesday after undergoing hip surgery following a fall at his home where he has been residing since his release from the Barbadillo prison, his daughter and former presidential candidate Keiko Fujimori confirmed on social networks. He had been sentenced in 2009 to 25 years in prison for aggravated homicide in the Barrios Altos and La Cantuta massacres.

Plummetting lithium price leads BASF to drop investment plans in Chile
Chemical giant BASF SE dropped its plans to invest in lithium mining assets in Chile after a recent downward turn in the mineral's price, it was reported. The German company thus canceled all talks with Canada's Wealth Minerals Ltd., which has exploration projects in the South American country, it was explained.

Venezuelan VP hit by falling tree while assisting Beryl victims
Venezuelan Executive Vice President Delcy Rodríguez Tuesday suffered an accident in Cumanacoa in the State of Sucre while assisting victims of Hurricane Beryl, President Nicolás Maduro confirmed. The official was hit by a falling tree amid heavy rains and subsequently hospitalized. Other members of her entourage were also injured. “She was badly beaten,” Maduro said.
