Beryl makes landfall in Mexico
After leaving at least three people dead in Jamaica, Beryl made landfall as a Category 2 Hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson scale Friday on the Mexican coast. It eventually downgraded to a tropical storm, although it continued to pose a serious risk with heavy storms and damaging waves, authorities warned residents. According to Mexico's National Water Commission (Conagua), Beryl winds reached 175 km/h with peaks of 220 km/h. Classes were suspended as of Thursday.

Lula visit announced to Mercosur's newest full member Bolivia
Bolivia's Deputy Communications Minister Gabriela Alcón announced Friday that Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva would be arriving in Santa Cruz de la Sierra next Monday for meetings with local authorities and businessmen. It will be the first visit of a foreign head of state since Bolivia's full Southern Common Market membership President Luis Arce Catacora signed into law this week.

Sir Keir Starmer was sworn in Friday as the UK’s new prime minister in lieu of the Conservative Rishi Sunak who turned in his resignation following Thursday's appalling electoral defeat earning Labour at least 412 of the 650 seats in Parliament.

UKs Labour wins with a huge majority; Tories in disarray lose votes to Reform, Liberals and Greens
U.K.’s Labour Party is on course to win a huge parliamentary majority in the country’s general election, putting an end to 14 years of Conservative governments. Labour is forecasted to have a majority of 166 seats in the House of Commons.
