After reaching 10.3 billion people by 2080, the world's population is projected to start dwindling, according to the ”World Population Prospects 2024″ document released this week. The study forecasted that the current population of 8.2 billion would keep soaring over the next 60 years and fall to 10.2 billion by the end of the century.

Argentina tops list of LatAm countries with the highest inflation for the 9th straight month

Argentina was found to boast the dubious honor of topping the list of Latin American countries with the highest inflation for the ninth month in a row after Friday's release by the National Institute of Statistics and Census (Indec) of the latest report regarding June's figures. Falklands Maritime Heritage Trust and a bit of history on Eundurance22

On 5th March 2022 the Endurance22 Expedition, organized and funded by the Falklands Maritime Heritage Trust, located the wreck of Sir Ernest Shackleton’s iconic three-masted polar sailing ship, Endurance, which had not been seen since it was crushed by ice in the Weddell Sea in 1915. Among the team of Endurance 22 was Mensun Bound, a Falklands born maritime archeologist who was Director of Exploration.

Huge pod of pilot whales stranded, and die in island off Orkney archipelago

Seventy-seven long-finned pilot whales washed ashore on Thursday on Sanday island, a part of the Orkney archipelago off Scotland. Sixty-five of them were already dead, the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) service said, and while twelve still alive, they were in too poor a condition to recover.

IBGE finds 2% interannual growth in services

Services in South America's largest country grew 2% interannually in the first five months of 2024, according to a report released Friday by Brazil's Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). Over the past 12 months through May, the index rose 1.3%. The sector accounts for about 70% of the country's gross domestic product (GDP). The sector also grew by 2.3% last year, making it the third in a row with positive figures.

Indec says Argentina's CPI in June reached 4.6%

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) reached 4.6% last month in Argentina for a year-on-year 271.5%, according to a National Institute of Statistics and Census (Indec) survey released Friday. These figures also yielded a 79.8% increase in the first semester of 2024.
