Food insecurity feared in Bolivia after weeks-long road blockades

Bolivia's Association of Oilseed and Wheat Producers (Anapo) President Fernando Romero said Monday that diesel fuel shortages seriously threatened food supply in the short run as well as production in the future. Romero told the Chinese news service Xinhua that hundreds of companies in eastern Bolivia were on the brink of bankruptcy and pointed out that only 20% of rice growers had started planting.

Sweden picks Embraer C-390 for military logistics

Sweden's Defense Ministry announced it has chosen the Brazilian-built Embraer C-390 Millennium as the country's new tactical transport aircraft. “Embraer is honored by Sweden's choice. Haiti's Council sacks interim PM and appoints a successor

Haiti's Presidential Transitional Council decided Sunday to appoint Alix Didier Fils-Aimé as interim Prime Minister in lieu of Garry Conille, it was reported in gang violence-torn Port-au-Prince. The transitional council was an emergency body created on April 25, 2024, in an effort to restore democratic order in a country deep in havoc, particularly since the July 7, 2021 assassination of President Jovenel Moïse. It is made up of members from various political parties, civil society, and observers.

Lula may resume air travel after last month's domestic accident

Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva went Sunday to the Sírio-Libanês Hospital in Brasília for a checkup on his domestic accident from days ago, after which he was cleared to resume air travel. According to a medical bulletin, he was found symptom-free from the incident he suffered on October 19th. He also showed an improvement from previous tests and was thus pronounced fit to carry on with his usual activities.
