José Mujica announces the progress of his disease: “I am doomed, this is as far as I've come”
Former Uruguayan President José Mujica (2010-2015) revealed that the esophageal cancer he was diagnosed with in April 2023 has spread to his liver, which he considers an end point in his medical treatment. “I am dying. I don't want to suffer in vain, my body can't take any more,” he declared in an interview published Thursday by the weekly Búsqueda.

BFSAI's Royal Artillery bids farewell to Colonel Charlie Harmer, welcomes Colonel Paddy Farrell
The Regimental Headquarters Royal Artillery officially said goodbye to Colonel Charlie Harmer ADC today, as he steps into a new chapter of his career. Promoted to Brigadier, Colonel Harmer will assume the position of Commander of British Forces South Atlantic Islands (BFSAI) this summer.

Brazil: Works of art broken during Jan. 8 uprising restored for 2nd anniversary ceremony
Brazilian authorities took delivery Wednesday of some 21 works of art that had been vandalized during the Jan.8, 2023, uprisings in Brasilia ending in hundreds of arrests of alleged followers of former President Jair Bolsonaro and convictions for attacking democracy.

New rules for foreigners wishing to travel to post-Brexit UK
Starting Jan. 8, travelers who do not need a visa to enter post-Brexit UK for leisure will still be required to get an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) from the Foreign Office's website. This new permit allows foreign visitors to stay up to six months in the country as nonresidents (not allowed to work or study) and costs 10 pounds sterling.

Leading risk rating agency further ups Paraguay's gradings
Paraguay's review by the international rating agency Standard & Poor's (S&P) has been upgraded from “stable to positive,” it was announced Wednesday in Asunción, as President Santiago Peña welcomed this new recognition.
