    Paraguay’s Vice President Pedro Alliana, from the National Republican Association (ANR-HC), placed himself under the spotlight Monday for failing to disclose campaign contributions from Long Jiang, a Chinese businessman and main shareholder of Kamamya SA, a company that was awarded the purchase of US$ 32 million worth of school desks for the Itaipú Binational Entity in a fudgy tender. Alliana’s flights coincided with meetings with ANR leader and former President Horacio Cartes with no official justification.

    At least six killed in Honduran air crash

    A mechanical failure is believed to have caused the incident

    A Jetstream 32 twin turboprop aircraft of Líneas Aéreas Nacionales de Honduras Sociedad Anónima (Lanhsa) Monday plunged into the Caribbean Sea shortly after takeoff from Juan Manuel Gálvez International Airport in Roatán, Honduras, en route to La Ceiba. The aircraft, carrying 15 passengers and 2 crew members, including a Honduran-American singer-songwriter, Aurelio Martínez Suazo, a French woman, and two minors, failed to gain sufficient altitude due to a suspected mechanical failure. At least six people died, five were injured, and six remain missing.

    Argentine President Javier Milei Monday held a “warm” phone conversation with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky to discuss bilateral relations and the peace process with Russia. The South American leader thanked Zelensky for his solidarity and condolences following the floods in Bahía Blanca for which the latter also offered to help. “Ukraine is ready to help Argentina to protect lives and provide the necessary assistance,” Zelensky wrote on X.

    King Charles gave a warm welcome to the new Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney when he visited Buckingham Palace on Monday. It was another symbolic gesture of support for Canada from a King, wearing a red tie, who has to send coded signals rather than spell things out in words, as Canada faces threats from US President Donald Trump.

    The criminal structure Ecuador is part of an intercontinental criminal network involved in multi-ton cocaine trafficking via sea containers from South America to Europe.

    A large-scale drug trafficking investigation, supported by Europol, led to the dismantling of an Ecuadorian criminal cell involved in supplying wholesale cocaine to the EU via major ports. The international operation, led by the Ecuadorian National Police (Policía Nacional del Ecuador), also involved the German Criminal Police (LKA Baden-Württemberg), German Customs (ZFA Stuttgart) and the Spanish Guardia Civil.

    Hackers from Argentina, identified as LaPampaLeaks, BogotaLeaks, and Uruguayo 1337, Monday hit the website of Uruguay’s National Directorate of Civil Aviation and Aeronautical Infrastructure (DINACIA). Using DNS poisoning, they defaced the site, exposing private data of President Yamandú Orsi, such as his phone number and records, as well as those of Agency for Electronic Government and Knowledge Society (Agencia del Gobierno Electrónico y Sociedad del Conocimiento - Agesic) Security Director Mauricio Papaleo.
