    On a calm winter morning, the Falkland Islands commemorated the 43rd anniversary of their liberation from Argentine occupation in 1982, with ceremonies and community gatherings held in the capital, Stanley. This Monday is a national holiday in the archipelago, a date that corresponds to the shift from Saturday, June 14, when the community of the Islands together with the internal self-government, represented by the eight elected members of the Legislative Assembly commemorates and celebrates Liberation Day, “a solemn and proud moment in the history” of the Islands.

    FAO estimates record global cereal production in 2025/2026

     With cereal production expected to exceed utilization, world cereal stocks are predicted to expand by 1.0 percent in 2025/26 to 873.6 million tons

    FAO also released a new Cereal Supply and Demand Brief, forecasting a record global cereal production of 2 911 million tons in 2025, up 2.1 percent from 2024. World cereal utilization is forecast to increase by 0.8 percent in 2025/26, reaching 2 898 million tons.

    Final farewell for an Iconic Falklands War destroyer HMS Bristol

    A Royal Navy destroyer that participated in the Falklands War left Portsmouth Harbor on Friday, June 13th, and is travelling to Turkey, where she will be recycled. A small group of spectators came to see HMS Bristol, the only Type 82 ever built of her class, being towed out of Portsmouth Harbor to start her journey to an EU-approved recycling yard in Turkey.
