Ahead of the General Election expected to take place in December 2025, the Falkland Islands Legislative Assembly has prepared a set of resources to provide clear and accessible information on the Islands’ political system, the role of MLAs, and the election process.

As a self-governing British Overseas Territory, the Falkland Islands elects its own representatives to lead and make decisions on behalf of the people. Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) are elected to represent the people of the Falklands. MLAs are accountable to the public, meaning they must listen to and act in the best interests of the people they serve.
