Seabourn Venture stabilizers system forces a change of itinerary, possibly two extra days in Falklands

Cruise Travel in its NewsBreak has reported that a luxury expedition ship currently sailing in Antarctica, has been forced to revise its itinerary due to unexpected problems with its stabilizers. Accordingly, Seabourn Venture's stabilizer system, designed to minimize ship movement in rough seas, has been deemed inoperable by Seabourn’s technical team.

Milei takes full responsibility for $LIBRA scandal

Weathering the storm against all odds, Argentine President Javier Milei blamed nobody and took full responsibility for his mistake in the so-called “cryptocurrency” scandal in which he endorsed the $LIBRA asset only to see it lose over 95% of its value in just a few hours after the head of state's posting. “I got a slap in the face,” he reckoned. It had been speculated that Milei was to blame an advisor for his or her poor judgment and then sack him or her as a scapegoat.

Francis to remain hospitalized given his “complex” situation

Argentine-born Pope Francis will remain hospitalized at Rome's Agostino Gemelli Polyclinic after physicians detected that his condition was more severe than originally thought when he was admitted last Friday. The former Archbishop of Buenos Aires Jorge Mario Bergoglio has been diagnosed with a polymicrobial respiratory disease, for which he is being given antibiotics as various bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites were detected in his lungs. This condition has led to changes in his treatment regimen. At 88, Francis is the second oldest pope in history.

Argentine among three hostages released by Hamas

The pro-Palestine terrorist organization Hamas released three Israeli hostages Saturday, including Yair Horn, who holds dual Argentine citizenship. Horn, 46, was captured during the Oct. 7, 2023, raid on Kibbutz Nir Oz alongside his brother Eitan Horn, who remains in captivity. Yair Horn was prioritized for release given his diabetic condition. Horn’s younger brother, 38, was visiting from his home in Kfar Saba for the holiday weekend.

Brazil: Offshore oil platform begins pre-salt operations

Brazilian authorities announced Saturday that the Almirante Tamandaré (Búzios 7) offshore oil production platform, the largest in the country, began operating in the Búzios Field, in the Santos Basin, around 180 kilometers off Rio de Janeiro. The platform ship can process up to 225,000 barrels of oil and 12 million cubic meters of natural gas per day.

Maduro wants to reform Venezuela's Constitution

Venezuela's Bolivarian ruler Nicolás Maduro is pushing for a Constitutional reform, which, among other changes, would provide for harsher penalties against individuals threatening the government's authority, it was reported this weekend in Caracas. The current Carta Magna dates back to 1999 when it was promoted by the late Hugo Chávez (1999-2013), who had it modified in 2009 to be reelected indefinitely.
