Argentina's Antarctica bases join national health system

Argentina's seven bases in Antarctica have joined the National Health Surveillance System (SNVS), a joint initiative between the Ministries of Health and Defense to improve the capacity for early detection and effective and timely response to public health risks, it was reported.

RRS Sir David Attenborough back in UK; she returns to Antarctica in October

The Falkland Islands' flagged RRS Sir David Attenborough has returned to the UK after a second season docked at Antarctica. The crew completed its polar science trials during what was a seven-month mission. The vessel arrived at Harwich in Essex on Tuesday.

Tierra del Fuego claims a record cruise season with 503 calls and 220,000 people

Argentine province Tierra del Fuego authorities have said that 2022/23, has been an excellent cruise season with a record 503 calls and a turnover of some 220,000 people between passengers and crew members. Expectations for the next season are even better with at least 591 calls anticipated.

IAATO confirms the Falklands Development Corporation in its family

The International Association of Antarctica Tour Operators welcomed five provisional operators and eight associates. Bunker One A/S, Freestyle Adventure Travel, South America Shipping, UnWild Planet Travel and Polar Tourism Guides Association were approved by IAATO members during an inter-session vote at the end of 2022 while Avila Reizen, Falkland Islands Development Corp. and Summit Aviation were voted in at the organization's recent annual meeting in Hamburg.
