  Census shows Argentina has a population of 46 million

  

  Argentina's National Institute of Statistics and Census (Indec) Tuesday published the results of the 2022 survey, which showed that the country has 46,044,703 inhabitants in 17,805,711 households nationwide. The study also found that 48.22% of the total population was male and 51.76% female.

  Argentine fisheries exports down 8,4% in 2022; exchange rate policy hindered sales overseas

  

  Argentine fisheries exports dropped 8,4% last year, to US$ 1,804bn because of lower prices and a retraction in demand from the main markets, according to Capeca, the Chamber of fishing vessels' annual report. Not to mention the Argentine monetary policy with the great exchange rate gap between the official US dollar price and the free market.

  Argentine FM thanks Chinese colleague for support regarding Malvinas

  

  Argentine Foreign Minister Santiago Cafiero Monday thanked his new Chinese colleague Qin Gang during a telephone conversation for the Asian Giant's support for the South American country's claim over the Malvinas/Falkland Islands. Qin Gang had become China's new Foreign Minister on Dec. 30, 2022. Both top diplomats concurred that a peaceful solution was needed for the South Atlantic dispute.

  Uruguay processed a total of 7,209 resident visas for Argentine nationals in 2022, a drop of nearly 42% from the previous year, it was reported in Montevideo on Monday.

  After departing from Montevideo on Jan. 16, Uruguayan Navy's logistics vessel ROU 04 “General Artigas” has arrived in Antarctica as part of the Antarkos 2022-2023 campaign to deliver supplies to the Artigas Scientific Base.

  Mapuche Ancestral Resistance (RAM) leader Facundo Jones Huala has been arrested by Río Negro provincial police in the Argentine city of El Bolsón after being a fugitive from Chile's Judiciary since Feb. 11, 2022.
